Freezer thaws and then Refreezes

Theory of operation: Cold air is produced in the freezer section and is then circulated via a fan located in the freezer section. It sounds like you may have either an air leak from faulty door seals, ice dispenser door flap stuck in the open position, or the light staying on the door is closed. A faulty compressor fan may also cause symptoms like that but you should hear the thermal cut out clicking off and on due overheating of the compressor. I HAVE A 21 YEAR OLD GE FRIG SIDE BY SIDE MOD. #

You are correct -Temps not low enough and you have been thorough in checking things out. About the only thing I can think of now is to make sure that the condenser coils underneath are perfectly clean to promote max efficiency. If clean, and we know your compressor is running after all these years You may be, yipes, low on refrigerant. I am sure you have thought of that but did not really want to deal with it - don't blame you. If you want to pursue that venue it is a PIA but can be done, CAREFULLY because the freon level on refrigerators is a critical parameter, not like a room or car AC. If wanna try relist your question as DIY refrigerator charging.

Why is there a flashing green light on the icemaker?

First, pull out the ice bin and eyeball the ice maker device behind it. See if the switch is turned on and the green light is lit. If it's blinking, that indicates "ice stuck in tray" and you'll have to take it out and thaw the whole contraption out. It's not that hard: unplug the giant molex connector on the right side and use a small hex wrench to unscrew the obvious screw holding it to the left side of the freezer wall. Then you can firmly pull the device up and out until it pops free from the notches where it sits in the back. If there's ice stuck in the device, or if it's just not filling properly, let it sit out for a few hours until it warms up. Depending on the humidity conditions in your freezer, something could have frosted over.Check the swing arm on the bottom of the device. Despite the appearance as a bit of useless plastic, it has a magnet attached to an arm inside the main ice maker housing which allows the maker to tell if the arm is extended or pushed part ways in. Ice being make and pushed into the bucket depresses the swing arm when it falls and the arm returns to the extended position via a small spring mounted between it and the unit unless the ice maker is full. This spring has a habit of popping out of a tiny hole and not providing the force needed for the arm to return to "make more ice" position. Check that it pushes back at you if you depress it. Hopefully one of these items you've checked wasn't working because they're all easy fixes. Reassemble and add it back to the freezer, making sure that the water dispenser in the back of the freezer leads INTO the ice maker, not BELOW it. This would cause a mess. Make sure the thing is plugged in again, and the green light is back on. If you're impatient about waiting for another ice cycle to start, depress the swing arm three times in a row. This should tell the ice maker to immediately dispense water and start a new cycle.

Water hammer noise coming from refrigerator

Eight_angels, yes such hammer noise is common and it is easy to fix! That hammer noise will eventually damage your plumbing unless fixed, I use an easy to install Sioux Chief 660-GTR1 surge suppressor with an air filled surge absorber to fix the problem, usually costing around $12. My ge profile refrigerator makes popping sound for about 3 minutes before the compressor starts. This happens almost every 8 hrs.

You may be hearing ice or water dripping on the defrost heater, which would be normal operation if the refrigerator is operating okay, otherwise.

Flap won't stop humming buzzing

Fridge keeps beeping or buzzing: The following is for Frigidaire models but others can be addressed similarly. Several Frigidaire refrigerator models have an electronic control panel on the freezer door the owner can use to adjust the internal temperature, dispense ice and water and receive notification about issues such as the need to replace a water filter. The refrigerators also emit a beep for various actions and as an occasional alarm. Determining what causes the beeps necessitates some troubleshooting. Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. After pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, press the arrow buttons within five seconds to increase or decrease the desired temperature. If you do not press the arrow buttons within five seconds after pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, the refrigerator beeps to indicate the current setting will stay in place. Door Open ·When you leave the refrigerator or freezer door open, the refrigerator beeps. Also, the "Door Ajar" indicator illuminates on the appliance's display panel. Shutting the door and pressing "Alarm Reset" stops the beeping and turns off the "Door Ajar" indicator light. ·The Frigidaire refrigerator has a control lock feature that prevents use of its control panel or dispensers when the unit is locked. When the control lock is active, a beep sounds when a keypad or dispenser is pressed. Release the control lock by pressing the "Control Lock" icon for three seconds. A beep will sound, and the icon's light will go out. Power Reset ·A power reset is occasionally necessary if the Frigidaire refrigerator's control panel does not work normally or a reset function on the keypad does not work. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire. Why my side-by-side refrigrator is not cooling and freezer is warm too.

Check your compressor if overheating. Observe the running condition of the compressor. Check if your compressor is running. If compressor is running then you have a freon leakage or insufficient freon. If not check your thermostat if working properly. (Get a multi tester and check for continuity. at normal temperature the circuit should be closed) If thermostart is working properly then check your OLP(over load protector) which is attached to your compressor. it should be closed circuit.

Ice machine not working

Ice dispenser doesn't work
  1. Dispenser control board
If the ice dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
  1. Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the ice dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The ice dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the ice dispenser is functioning.
  1. Water tube in door is frozen
If the ice dispenser is not working on your refrigerator, the issue could be a frozen water supply tube located in the door. Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. If the air flows freely through the tube, it is not frozen and this is not the issue. If it does not, the tube is frozen and needs to be removed to thaw out. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.
  1. Dispenser switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working properly you could be dealing with a defective dispenser switch. Activated by the dispenser actuator, the switches are responsible for numerous actions including ice cube disbursement, type of ice, and water controls. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter and should be replaced if it does not reveal continuity.
  1. Door switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working, the functionality of the door switch can be inspected. This switch is responsible for turning on the light in the freezer and simultaneously turning off the ice dispenser when the freezer door is opened. If this switch malfunctions, it will show no continuity on the ohm meter and will require replacement. Ice maker not functioning or producing ice cubes
  1. Check connections
Check all hose connections to ensure that water is being transmitted through your appliance and there is no frost build up.
  1. Feeler arm
Double check to make sure your feeler arm is not stuck or that ice cubes are not blocking the feeler arm's motion to produce more ice.
  1. Ice maker heater
The heater may be stuck on. The heater comes on for 1-2 minutes to break cubes free from mold. If the heater stays on too long ,the ice maker will get hot and stop making ice. Carefully feel around the ice maker mold; if it is hot to the touch, the heater is on. This indicates that the ice maker is jammed, and it is better to replace ice maker than to try and repair it.
  1. Water inlet valve
The water valve supplying the ice maker is a key component of the ice-making system. When the ice maker calls for ice, its switch closes an electrical circuit and energizes the solenoid-operated water valve. This allows water to flow through the valve and into the ice cube tray. The water is frozen into cubes, and the cubes are dumped into the ice bin. When this part is not operating correctly, a repair/replacement part may be needed.
