The two things aren't related. Your battery was probably just ready to go, so it was a coincidence. You should only need to change your oil if it's time to. Many people change oil at 3 months or 3000 miles, and many automakers say 5000 miles. Check your owner's manual or ask your mechanic if you're unsure.

It depends on he vehicle. Most newer cars take 6 quarts and diesels can take gallons of it. If it is alate model SUV it will most likely take 6 quarts. I have a 2000 Expedition and a 2004 Avalanche and they both take 6 quarts.
