CEILING FAN WORKS,BUT REMOTE ONLY WORKS THE FAN SECTION, WILL NOT DIM LIGHTS NOR TURN OFF LIGHTS ONLY SO WE CAN USE FAN ONLY. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO?
Fist, make sure the bulbs are good. Check in another fixture to verify that they indeed work. Since the remote works the fan, dead batteries can be ruled out. The problem will be confined to either a bad receiver in the fixture, or a bad remote.Since Hampton Bay is a line carried by Home Depot, you may have some luck bringing your remote to HD and trying it out on the display units. You may need to try different address settings on the remote to find one that works if you don't get results the first time. This is usually several two position switches often called "DIP Switches". Change the positions of them one at a time until you find one that works. Try to control a fan first. Once you find a fan the reacts to the commands from the remote, try to control the light. If the light doesn't work - the remote has a bad transmitter or light switch control. You could attempt to disassemble the switch, but most don't have parts that look different when they're bad. You'll probably have to replace the remote. If the lights work, then the problem is with your fixture. You can remove or simply bypass the radio controller in the fixture and install an after market receiver and remote to control it again. These are sold at Home Depot and work with any paddle fan.I hope this helps & good luck!

Light bulb broke off in fan light how do I remove?
If the glass is broken and there are sharp pieces sticking out you can use the potato trick. Cut a small potato so you have a flat end, make sure the power to the fan light is turned off, and push the potato onto the broken remains. Then you can turn the potato to unscrew the base and just toss the whole thing in the trash. Wipe off the socket and you're set for a new bulb.
If the old bulb broke off clean so that only the base is left in the socket, you'll need to bend the edge of the base inward a little with a small screwdriver. Then grab the base with needle-nose pliers and unscrew it from the socket. Again be sure the power is off before working on the light.

Hampton Bay Wiring?
You have two switches right? One for the light and one for the fan? White should be neutral. Green should be ground. Black should be hot from one switch and red should be hot from the other. Hook black to black and blue to red. If you wire blue and black together then one switch will turn on the fan and the light at the same time.

Remote not working at all
Check the fan and the remote to see the code switches are same. Sometimes depending on the age and humidity you may have to slide the switches back and forth to clean the contacts. Did it ever work? Are the batteries in the proper polarities? The fan and remote have to have the same numbers picked to operate properly.

Remote Control
Change the remote control batteries. Because of the motor construction, it needs to turn on in the highest speed setting. This is why it defaults to the high speed mode. Put new batteries in the remote and that ought to fix it.
