Freezer n refrigerator is warm at 78 degrees

If the compressor is running it either has broken valves or the refrigerant has leaked out. Without knowing more than the information you've provided I would start with the basics. Does the fridge have power? Can you hear both the condenser and evaporator fans running? Have you checked the coils under the fridge to see if they are clean?

My GE Profile Artica ice maker is making ice, but

Hi!!

The Ice Maker and the Freezer/Fridge part of the unit work separate, that's why you get the ice made but the freezer can't keep it frozen.

Most likely the condenser, located in the back of the freezer is all frozen and covered with ice pluggin up the air ducts to the fridge, preventing it from cooling.

One quick solution will be unplugging the refrigerator and allowing it to defrost on it’s own or remove the freezer's back panel and using a heat gun or hair dryer to melt the ice, this will take about 20 to 30 min..

There are various reasons this type of problem:

The temp. controls are not set properly. Set controls according to manufacturer recomendation.
The small fan in the freezer is not working,
The defros timer is not working or,
The defrost heater coil is busted.

Once the ice is melted, plug unit back in and check for unit reactions. You should be able to hear the freezer fan working. Also, you'll hear about 4 to 6 times a day the defrost heater melting the ice in the back of the freezer, if NOT, check heater coil for continuity.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck.

Freezer walls are icing up.

Most likely with that model the problem is with the defrost heater burning out. Easy to spot after unplugging power from wall, removing contents and rear panel inside freezer. Use a hair dryer to speed things up. If burned out you will see smoked glass inside tube that holds the heater element. Click Here=> WR51X10055

5 year old refridgerator and freezer not at proper tempurture

You are right when you say that you would be facing heating experience. Normally the optimum temperature of a refrigerator is 37 degree fahrenheit, but in your case it is very much higher. You need not to worry about the heat from the motor, if it's functioning properly, that's enough. You are lucky that your refrigerator doesn't have overheating problem. Many refrigerator are having heating problem and more than that, they make annoying (humming sound). I suggest you not to do anything with it unless it is necessary. Good luck.

Older fridgidare side by side, fridge side is warm

Hi,
There could be a few reasons for insufficient cooling.A heavy frost build up on the back wall in the freezer, indicates it's probably not defrosting. As the frost gets thicker the refrigerator and freezer temperatures will get warmer and there will be no air flow to the fridge section. If you don't hear the motor running in the freezer, it will cause the same problem.
If there is no frost in the freezer and good air flow from the air baffle in the fridge section, then it will lead toward the seal system. This could be a restriction, low charge or the compressor may not be pumping properly. A technician will need to make these checks.

Hope this helps.

Stopped cooling

Hi,
You can start with replacing the start capacitor and relay to see if the compressor will run again, but you have about a 50 -50 chance that the compressor has gone bad and will need to be replaced....

My ge profile artica pss25sgna bs does not get cold

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If you are sure that it is the compressor which is not receiving signal to work then it is usually a bad relay or a bad overload switch. You'll need to check both of them and replace whichever has gone bad, please check this picture part#733 is the relay and part#735 is overload:

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
