Bunn Ultra Gourmet Ice - Black - Sno Cones & Frozen Drink Machines Questions & Answers
I have a bunn ultra 2 slush machine.everything comes on its just the compressor kicks on and right off afterwards not allowing product to freeze.what could be the problem.thanks in advance
If your Bunn Ultra 2 slush machine's compressor is turning on and off immediately, not allowing the product to freeze, there could be a few possible causes. Here are a few things you can check:
- Check the thermostat: Make sure that the thermostat is set to the correct temperature and that it is functioning properly. A faulty thermostat can prevent the compressor from turning on.
- Check the compressor relay: The compressor relay is responsible for turning the compressor on and off. If the relay is faulty, the compressor may not stay running. You can check the relay by using a multimeter to test for continuity across the relay's terminals.
- Check the compressor motor: The compressor motor could be faulty and not able to start or stay running. You can check the motor by using a multimeter to test the winding resistance.
- Check the condenser coils: The condenser coils could be dirty or clogged with dust, which can cause the compressor to overheat and shut off. Clean the condenser coils with a brush or compressed air to remove any dust or debris.
- Check the compressor's oil level: If the oil level is low, the compressor could be damaged.
- Check the overload protector: The overload protector is a safety device that is designed to protect the compressor from damage caused by excessive current. If the overload protector has tripped, the compressor will not start or stay running.
It's worth noting that a compressor not staying running could also be caused by a more complex issue
Bunn gourmet ultra 2 message bad tic clock
The Bunn Ultra-2 originally came with several circuit boards, including the main control board and a small memory board also known as the "TIC Clock". This little board, screwed in directly behind the main control board and has a small round metal circuit on it that looks like a watch battery, but it is not -- the metal "Can" contains the timing and memory functions for the main control board. There is also a small battery inside the "can", which maintains the memory when power is removed from the machine. Over time, this battery will fail and you will see an error message on your LCD readout that says ":Bad TIC Clock". In the past you could just buy a new TIC Board from Bunn and install it and you'd be back on your way again. But, Bunn no longer sells the TIC Board and instead Bunn wants you to purchase a new Main Circuit Board that has the memory and timing functions built right on the new Main Board. The list price is over $200.You can now purchase a TIC Board Rehabilitation kit from the Margarita Guys for under $50 which will replace the failed circuitry on the small TIC Board. Go to ebay and search "Bunn TIC Board" and you will see the kit available there. It includes all the necessary tools, 9 pages of detailed instructions and annotated photos, free Priority Shipping, and free phone access to their Bunn trained and certified Journeyman Technicians for any help you may need. This should be the perfect answer to resolve your Bad TIC Clock message and the working errors that come with it.
Freezer won t freeze
either mix too rich, torque set too low, shaft spring bent, compressor relay blown, compressor contactor shorted, refrigeration valve solenoid bad, or filter dirty thus reducing air flow. if it's both sides, clean the filter and check the compressor relay (behind right side panel, behind plastic cover on compressor. if you smell burning electric, replace) and the contactor (behind right side panel at the top, tan box with wires. press the tiny button to start compressor. if it doesn't start, replace). if it's only one side, check the valve solenoid (inside left side panel, there are 2 valves. remove plugs from each and retouch to terminals while on. if they click, they work).
Bunn granita noise
if the noise is from the rear top, the auger motor needs to be lubed. if it's only when it's freezing, it may be the fan motor.
Clean mould
take it apart. you should have a picture manual on the left side of the machine to show you how to clean it. if it's a later model, it won't have that. take the bowls off, the auger off, and clean each part; especially the auger seal (looks like a suction cup). lube the seal and the rear bowl seals (large white silicone rings in the back) and reassemble. mix a 1/2 teaspoon of bleach in 5 gallons of luke warm water and pour into the bows equally. turn on stir but not freeze for 2 minutes. no need to rinse, the bleach is too diluted. drain and fill
How do i fix one side freezing much slower than the other?
it needs an ambient temp of 75-80 degrees to work well. to hot, it struggles and can't cool down. make sure you have at least 6 inches of space behind the machine so it can breathe, and clean the filter regularly. the mix has to have a brix level (water to sugar or "antifreeze" ratio) of about 12. to rich and it won't freeze. to lean and it'll ice up. alcohol brix is too high. you may also have a small refrigeration leak
