Before this 5 cups coffee

Try running a few cycles of fresh water mixed with a ``descaling`` solution sold at most grocery big box stores. Run the machine WITHOUT coffee.. Then run a few more pots of fresh water (no descaling solution). ,to clean out any residue. Are you using any type of bottled water when making coffee?? If you are, I would just use tap water or ``brita filtered`` water.
Good luck and happy brewing...

I have a GE coffee maker and grinder model no.

I just got the 169103 coffee maker off e-bay.
Got it home and found it would not come on.
I did get my money back,,,however, decided to open up the bottom and found that the power connection to the unit gets very hot. The cord was burned. I managed to re-do the connection and it works now.

GE 169165 Won't brew and won't clean.

O.K sounds like an internal board fault and will require service by a technician. It may be easier to replace the unit and quicker. But try a quote first.

GE 169164 coffee maker problem

*** HOW TO RESET THE GE 169164 COFFEE MAKER ***

After endless online searches yielding the same results (nothing useful), I figured out how to reset this coffee maker.

While coffee maker is plugged in and the evil little blue light is mocking you relentlessly, press and hold the 1-4 button and the TSB button simultaneously for 3 seconds or so. This will cause the device to exit it's error status and allow normal use of it.

GE 169164 coffee maker. Tried to do the self

Did you allow a full hour for the cycle to complete? If you stop the cycle before it is complete, it will not run until the cycle has completed. Allow the cycle to fully complete and it should work after that. If not, call the customer service numbers on the front of your manual.

When I make coffee I have a layer of fine grounds

The coffee you are using is probably too finely ground for the basket. You can either use a more coarsly ground coffee, or place a paper filter in the basket before adding your coffee.

The clean lite came on, I held down for numerous

The cleaning cycle takes about an hour. Unplugging, or turning off only delays the process. Place your solution in and set the self-clean, then walk away for about an hour. If it has not completed after an hour, call the GE service numbers found on the front of your user's manual.
