We have a Marco fireplace and the damper does not

when the gas logs were installed the vent damper should have disabled. it sounds like this was done.it is unsafe to close the damper with gas piped into the fire place. sometimes a "u" block will be placed over the damper blade. if the gas has been removed and not piped into the firebox anymore it would be safe to remove this

The light will not go on

If the unit still heats then try replacing the light bulb first, then I would check the flame generator. You can locate parts from website ibuyfireplaceparts.com.

The remote on my electric

I to have the ghost that turns on remote controlled items at times mainly changing the modes on my television. I have found out the culprit to be when my wife gets a text message on her phone that this happens. So it could be cell phone, or wireless router, or gaming systems there are so many different things that may interfere with your remote. Not saying it is the case but experiment when it happens you will be surprised what it may be.

The pilot will light manually

sounds like you need to replace the thermocouple. this part is heated by the pilot flame and it sends a low voltage flame to the gas valve to open the main gas flow valve. they are very easy to install and they are located next to the pilot burner and screw into the gas valve.

Have a GTI Insert Replaced

It sounds to me like you have a bad flame sensor.Luckily most of the time they are pretty easy to change. If you have your manual it will show you the physical location of flame sensor. Usually 1 or 2 screws holding it in place. Remove screws and unplug wires to remove sensor.Install new sensor and hopefully you're in business. Thank you.

Gas fireplace

yes it is important to stack them right but just trying to figure it out by the depressions is not right you need a diagram to show you or just call service agent its better to do right or it will coast you later when it causes your heater to break down i've seen various ways that people try and do logs even following the book my best suggestion is call service agent they should know how to do it correctly
