Mr. Heater MH175KT Runs but doesn't heat?
Check the fuel and air lines under the motor cover they crack not long after purchasing, buy good quality fuel line, you will need about 24 inches and i think its 1/4 id , also there is an adjustment on the back of the motor which increases or decreases the air pump volume adjust it to the max it will use more fuel when it does run but at least it will start
Heater runs for 30 sec then shuts off blows smoke
I am not to sure of the trouble codes on Mr.Heater but this is usually a fuel related problem. My routine maintenance is remove top half of heater and clean fuel system from nozzle back to the tank.Remove nozzle, clean the screen behind the nozzle they corrode over the summer sometimes inspect the nozzle for corrosion or damage. Inspect lines back to pump then to filter. The filter can be cleaned out with compressed air and a blow gun blowing air thru the filter backwards. Now check the fuel line to the tank and make sure it is submerged in the fuel. Before putting the top on locate the fire sensor and give it a quick cleaning with windex and soft terry cloth rag. Put your heater back together and check air filter to pump clean it and fire away. This works 90 percent of the time. Good luck!
New kerosene heater will not ignite
my Dads heater is doing the same thing i took it apart and found the fan has a device in it that builds pressure and forces it into the tank pushing it ut to the nozzle that sprays the fuel, The fitting that hooks to the fan part was broke in shipping. but am now having trouble finding part.
It runs but it puffs smoke every 3 - 5 seconds.
I am not real familiar with the Mr Heater units, although I have been around Reddy Heaters for well over 30 years. The principal is the same, after all, Mr heater is a foreign knock-off of the Reddy Heater.
Check, in this order:
1. shine a flashlight in the tank- look for water droplets rolling around on the bottom.
2. check the fuel filter for restriction. A blocked filter will cause starvation.
3. with soapy water check for air leaks from the air pump to the nozzle. An air leak will cause reduced fuel delivery.
4. check the pump pressure, bring up to factory specs.
5. If you have turned the adjustment screw, move #5 up to #1.
6. check or replace the nozzle.
7. If the fuel delivery system checks out OK then you have an electronics problem, and I’ve been told that Mr Heater parts are rare and hard to come by.
My mr. Heater lights only stays lit for about 3 minutes and then it goes out
I had this same problem with my heater. I cleaned the propane tube where the flame comes out (after it’s off and cooled down) with a Qtip and some alcohol. After removing some cotton, it will fit all the way down to the end of the tube. Repeat until it comes out clean and stays lit. I had to repeat with 91% rubbing alcohol and more Qtips, and most of the cotton removed.
