first look in the my computer folder (computer for windows 7 ) and insert the dvd and watch the changes to see if the computer reads the disk ..if it does..but it just not opening with the program ..than reinstall the program to exclude any damage int might developed..If it was a trial you have to reinstall it and get a license ...or ..just seek another player to read them ..If you use standard dvd formats ..than will work with VLC player ...or even the latest BS free player
Anyway ..this will work if the disk are read by the computer ...only ..if it is a disk drive issue ..than you have to check the driver in device manager ..or reinstall the operation system cause there are some bugs that wonder about and attack the dvd drives ..if it is a driver issue ..it will appear in yelow with an exclamation sign in device manager (to get there click right on my computer ../properties/hardware /device manager ...and unfold the disk drives to see if it is proper installed or not ..)

one problem may be called codecs for the media players. you may also try the player vnc it a free download, small size and almost always works when the big named players don't.

Uninstall the new version that you got and install the old one back... You can go to web sites for vintage software to find it if you don't have the disk.
