I have the same problem and I have 2 of them fairly new. I can't seem to find out what the problem is either.

Check the thermo protector fuse at the bottom near the heating pad. The fuse must not be open circuit. If it is, replace it. You can order the fuse for $1 from eBay or Amazon. Good luck!

The motor is the only thing that can cause the noise, best to just replace it.

Same thing is happening to me this season - and it's none of the above - it's the darn pump. The HUT220s have been perfect for 2 seasons, but this year, the pumps rattle and growl no matter what I try, and one won't pump water at all. I had to call Kaz/Honeywell for replacement pumps. 1-800-477-0457. Oh yeah, and he's sending them NO CHARGE!It took "Bill" a while, but he found some for me. Honeywell inventory system says there are none in stock, so if you call and someone tells you they are out of stock, MAKE THEM CHECK WITH THEIR SUPERVISOR - THEY ARE THERE SOMEWHERE! They probably list them under the new model number for this year "220W" but the whole 200 series uses the same pumps based on all the photos/diagrams you can see online.I looked all over online for them to see if I could find them sooner than the 3-4 weeks it will take to deliver them, but there are none to be found. If anyone knows a place that delivers to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, let me know!

I wouldn't mess around with trying to fix it myself if the item is still under warranty. If you are smelling burning, and safety mechanisms aren't working, I'd be very careful about continuing to use it. Do you still have your invoice? At only 2 months old, the unit shouldn't be malfunctioning like that. Best thing to do would be to take it back and exchange it for a new one. If the place you bought it from won't take it back, then call Honeywell directly. Honeywell should cover either fixing it or exchanging it under warranty.

Maybe the hose is blocked. Take the hose off the supply side, and blow into just enough to add pressure to it and see if that works. Try this site for more details or a similar issue: Honeywell HE240 new install not working

You will need a multimeter to check if the humidifier is receiving 24 volts from either the furnace control board or transformer. If you have 24 volts to the solenoid, but does not open, then the solenoid valve will need to be replaced.

I have same problem with no water flow on identical humidifier but was able to fix it. Removed the inlet to the solenoid valve and found (1) a small taper mesh filter inside (2) a small diameter orifice that was clogged. Cleaned the miniature filter and used a sewing needle to open the orifice and now works perfectly.
