called reiker, and they sent me a new thermostat for the fan. installed it and problem solved

I've also had this problem. Solved it with the reset button on the back of the remote. It's under the battery cover, next to the dip switches.

Turn on the remote, with heat. Then, at the wall switch or circuit box turn off power. Wait a few minutes. Restore power and within 30 seconds with remote in range of fan hit the reset button. You should see a countdown from 5-0 on the remote screen.

I did this and the heat started working again.

I would start out by wiping down them damp sponging the fan blades top and bottom. If you have a air copressor and don't mind a mess you can use low pressure air to blow thru all the cooling ports on the motor.This is the way I clean ours but it doesn't make my wife very happy. You can also shut off power and disassemble to the point you are comfortable with then brush and vacumn.
I have found that the ones that I have taken completely down,while it does make them easier to clean they have all had sealed bearing motors so not able to lube.Hope this helps you. Thanks.

it sounds like the motor has a weak start winding or if the unit has a start capasitor it is bad
