Sometimes webcam software can still be hooked up on a previous program where it was being used, even if the program was correctly exited.
Just reboot your webcam software by unplugging the webcam from the USB port for a couple of seconds
Re-check your settings

hello you've probably given up and binned the cam by now - we nearly did. but solved it last night. It's the annoying photo editing program that opens automatically when your camera opens up that's interfering with Skype. called magic-i or something like that. Remove that from your comp and the camera works fine. good luck!!

You got a CD with webcam if it is not then go to manufacturer site and with the help of your webcam model u can download drivers and install it.

a. re install the software for the PC camera
reboot.
b. check you if the program is compatible with the OS Operating System ) you have and go to the manufacturer's site to see if there are any updated drivers for the said camera.
c. check all cables for broken of puffed wire end.
If you have snagged the cable at one time possibly by entangling your for or pulled the cable this may have resulted your camera cable being damaged.
d. try your camera on another PC with the same software installed and see if it respond if so then it is the driver or incompatibility.

make sure your mic is not mute just check the mic seeting and see the connection of mic pin is properly connected.

1. On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
2. Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
3. Next click on Enhanced IM.

5. The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and

cause the drivers to be corrupt and render the camera unusable till reinstalled it properly.

Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ )
set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.HTML )
set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next "Calling and Devices" on the right, set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card or headphones/mike.
Next go to the Test Audio section below where you just setup the microphone & speaker and (written in blue) click on "Open the call setup assistant"
and the "Yahoo Call Setup Assistant" window will open to the left and follow the the instructions. Click on FINISH and the audio will be setup.
Next go to "Webcam" and click in the circle "Allways allow the following people to view my webcam.
Next Click on "Super Webcam" snd in the circle click "Start Super Webcam mode automatically".
Then click OK and it should work.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

This is purely because of the driver problem. You will have to uninstall the driver completely and reinstall it again. Right Click on My Computer and click on Manage, and click on Device Manager and there you should be able to see your webcam installed. Select the webcam and Right click on the webcam and say properties and click on Driver details You should be able to see the drivers associated with the webcam. Delete the drivers from the specified location individually. Also remember to delete the drivers from the folder c:\windows\system32\dllcache.. Delete the respective drivers from this folder first and then you can delete the same drivers from c:\windows\system32. If the file is not available ignore it, but ensure you delete the rest of the associated files

Once you have properly installed your webcam, DO NOT disconnect it from your USB port as it will cause the drivers to become corrupt.

Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the
camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
