Samsung CLX 3175FN Paper Jam 1 Tech

Ok, lets talk about the imaging unit. An OEM unit will rub you about $150.00. This item is best to go with the Samsung branded unit as opposed to a compatible due to the specs that Brother builds to as opposed to the aftermarket. No sense in damaging your printer, just to say you saved a few dollars. The part number you will be looking to purchase is below. As far as the life of a unit is concerned, the number varies based on the type of printing the frequency of the printing and the color saturation of your print jobs. A good number for the imaging unit is approx. 10,000 - 12,000, except for the first unit your receive when you purchased the printer, if you are on that unit and got 7500 prints out of that, you are one lucky camper.

Instructions for replacing the imaging Unit

STEP 1. Removing the Imaging Unit

When replacing your imaging unit it requires two steps:

  • Packaging and returning the original imaging unit.
  • Installing the replacement imaging unit.

Instructions for both steps are below
Packaging and Returning the Original Unit

To package and return the imaging unit, follow these steps:

Important: To prevent spills or damage to the imaging unit, follow these instructions carefully.

  1. Unplug your printer from the wall outlet, and then open your printer's front cover.
  2. 1.jpg

  3. Remove each toner cartridge from your printer by carefully pulling on the tab as shown in the image below. Set the toner cartridges aside in a safe place.
  4. 2.jpg

  5. After removing the toner cartridges, remove the waste toner container from the imaging unit.
  6. 3.jpg
Note: Be sure to keep the toner waste container so that you can re-install it later. Failure to re-install the toner waste container may cause damage to your printer.

I have a Xerox Phaser

Try doing a "stop test." Stop the print process at various stages, and see if which component creates the defect.
For instance, if a print takes 20 seconds, during the first 10 seconds, the drum is generating the image to transfer to the belt. If the image is bad on the drum, then that is your culprit. If not, then see which unit creates the problem.

Also, what color is the line?
After the unit gets to the transfer belt, you should check the transfer roller and fuser.

My CLX 3175FN printer continues

Paper jams

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers. The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away

Also:

Start a print from tray 1/manual feed and just as the trailing edge of paper is entering the machine; quickly open it to stop print and take out the cartridge and look at the drum and the paper underneath. If the issue is there at that point then it would point to the cartridge. If not then it is in the fuser area.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

MY COPIES COME OUT SMUDGED AND ITS NOT THE TONER,

Somewhere in your manual http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200910/20091026132451875/Guide_EN.pdf
like on page 155 or so, there's a large section on paper troubleshooting. With the best of luck, it's a bad lot of paper, either wet, curled, old, etc. Things go downhill from there. Try cleaning the inside of the machine. Worst case is it will be something you can't fix. Since you did say copies, maybe it's a glass or drum (if it has one) problem. Copiers tend to have a shiny filmy deal (nice technical term, huh?), fuser, imager, whatever, that receives the image and transfers it to paper. That may have residue on it.

Printers normally clear their memory either when they finish the print job or when they are restarted.
If you can see it hasn't been deleted after the print job has finished turn it off and on again.

How do i clean a samsung clx 3175 color laser

You need to carefully vacuum out( do not blow in) all the loose toner. Then use cotton pads to clean up the residue that the vacuum does not get. Of course you have to take the drum out before you vacuum. You will see pickup rollers , clean them with a damp cloth with a dab of dish detergent.

There is a optical lens on the top inside, use a clean cotton pad to go across it and clean it.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!
