HP 16 GB USB FLASH DRIVE PRO FULL SPEED 2.0 Server - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have HP V165W Flash
NO LAPTOP STATED.
ok what are you doing, tell that first. the job at hand.
then tell symptoms.
omg , i can buy generic USB memory sticks in a bundle at Walmart check out. the all works on every PC made.
so do yours.
did you try this stick on other PCs, (NOT WITH XP )
you do XP is a dead OS not for 3 long years, right
and plug and pray is not dead at HP , and MS. right?
for XP to work , (good luck there)
it must have SP3 loaded, does it?
and be connected to the internet ; are you.
XP will try to find the USB drivers to run your stick as ALL OS do the first time, and XP will fail. in most cases now
that is because microsoft pulled the XP plug. 3 years ago
that means they only have 1 tiny bit of support left,
that is activation, only
time to up grade to w7, for sure
or go to GOODWILL Buy pc used with W7 COA sticker on the bottom for $20 and win.
this is the support in the STICK.

How to format a write protected usb device
Usually, a USB drive that says it is write-protected is protected by a password set by the owner. If you cannot open it you cannot format it. You need the password. Look on the Internet for some software that can remove, reset, or retrieve the password.

How to write password my 16 gb pendrive flash drive
To password protect a USB flash drive the best way is to go for the encryption option so if its lost you are still protected has many are still accessible if lost.http://www.truecrypt.org has the free software and instructions but you will have to copy your files to a pc first and then copy back when the drive is protected

I got an USB 8HB
Please check if it has any lock (a small latch in the side usually) that may be preventing the format.

Hello,
If your system did install the HP software/drivers for this pen the first time you connected, try reinstalling the drivers, reboot your system and try again.
Good Luck
