My screen just went off

Ok, please try below to help you narrow down the problem.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please post back what you find. Please leave rating if it helps.

I have a 42" Element

You should return the TV to the place of purchase for repair or replacement after contacting Element. They will either make arrangements for repair or replacement.

The typical failures that make popping sounds are pretty serious electrical failures and generally happen very early in the live of a TV if at all.

Contact Element by going to the below link and scrolling down. Put your model # into the box near the bottom and click the button next to it that says "Get Contact Info" and it will take you to their support page with contact #'s for the proper department.

Hope this helps FixYa,

My TV (42" Full HD

Hi,

Yes you can - but not with a USB cable. USB is only for data (file) transfer.

What you are attempting to do is use your TV as a PC monitor, therefore it needs to be connected to your TV using a PC monitor cable (15-pin D-SUB/VGA). You will also need a separate audio cable from your PC to your TV if you want to use the TV speakers for audio. If you are using a receiver or amplifier with external speakers, you can connect the audio out from the PC directly to the amplifier/receiver.

It is also possible to connect the PC to the TV with an HDMI cable if your PC has an HDMI out port. However, some TVs wont accept an HDMI signal from a PC and this method of connection can cause other issues, so I would recommend using the PC monitor cable method.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

I have aflx-3202 t.v. what type of h.d. tv antanna

Any set top HD antenna will do if you are not surrounded by hills and mountains, it maust have COAXIAL connector to attach to your TV. HD (ATSC) antenna is the same as UHF antenna (HD (ATSC) uses the the old UHF band for transmitting) but HD sound better than UHF for marketing purpose so they can charge you more with the word HD on the box.
TARGET or RADI SHACK, BB.

After it turns on the

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.
Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 yearsinstead of 10-20. The capacitors failprematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems. Here are some options for you.
1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????
2. Open your TV and find PSB. Checkfor faulty caps. If you find some (bulgedor leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right nowbecause they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited.
3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.
Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds.
I have a tip/tutorialon this site that may also help. Itgives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shutsoff on its own problem. I'mworking on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process aswell. Let me know if I can do anythingto help. Hope this helps and Good luck. Kaufman605

The red light is on but it wont turn on i checked

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

TV was on, heard sizzling

More likely to have burnt out power supply module, leave it unplug!. You need to look inside at the power supply module (the part where the power cord is attached to).

I watching TV, (FLX3211B) turned it off and then

You may have to replace the power supply module if you do not want to troubleshoot it down to component level. The fuse blown may be due to the power surge or shorted out components.
The standalone power supply may be hard to find. You can try here:
