FXL3211B The TV just went black. The power still

Hello,The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge. The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.All these can be checked on the power supply board. But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others. The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes. What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point). You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue. If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.I hope this helps.Regards.

Picture has dark lines runing verticle on the tv.

hi,

As you mentioned there is problem with the T-con (LCD pixel driver) board. This board drives the Pixes in the rows and columns of LCD pannel. there will be two connections from this board to LCD pannel. Normally in LCD tvs this board is located in the bottom center coverd by metal cover or aluminium foil to avoid interfearence. First of all do one thing remove the connections from this board and reconnect it again. some times improper contact can cause these type of problems. Normally there is no repair possible with this board. so you have to repace the board if the problem previles. You can find the T-con boar in the following link.

No picture no sound

Hi,
It's the cable connection that you need to check. If the power light stays on then it's just the cable, if it doesn't stay on then the power port is defective.

No power

Hi samuelcheren,

Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse failed because of power surge, replacing with same current(ampere) rating will cure the problem, If this is the case I would advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However, if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit the link http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the power supply.

You may also click this LINK.

Another option is to replaced the entire power supply board yourself, this is more convenient if you are going to DIY because no soldering required. Click this LINK for the replacement or obtain it from your local service center.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using fixya.

Hey,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

I hope this will helpout in solving the problem.....

This is a protection circuit that prevents the tv from coming on (to stop damage of the components) ....you need to check your voltages off the power supply and make sure they all read well (EX: 24v12v5v etc). Also look for popped capacitors that would make the values lower than need be for the tv to power on properly.

Once you repair the power supply then you may need to replace other components if needed!

Please rate if this helps! :D

Element 32" LCD HDTV 4

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors pictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

This sounds like a problem with the power supply circuit board inside your monitor.

If you are handy with a screwdriver and soldering iron then you can buy a repair kit with all the necessary replacement components for it for less than $20 and replace the bad capacitors yourself. Here is a link to an excellent supplier of that repair kit for your model:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Repair-Kit-Element-FLX-3211B-LCD-TV-Capacitors-/330550844351?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf65d9bbf

Obviously this requires disassembling the monitor and soldering in the components yourself.

If you don't have that kind of skill or inclination, then you will have to bring it in to the shop to fix it. Unfortunately the cost of repair if you include the technician's labour required may approach the purchase price of a brand new tv that size which would come with a full warranty. So you will have to keep that in mind when you weigh the cost benefits and make your decision on what course of action to take.

You also might get lucky and find a whole new power supply circuit board on EBay which would involve less work to replace it, but you would have to look around a bit more and there is more risk associated with that route as well since that board will be more expensive and may turn out to be faulty as well.

Anyway good luck.

The wall mount is not made to be fit into the base, it is attached to the back the TV, TV uses what they call VESA mounting which had different pattern for each TV. Look at your TV user manual to find out the VESA mounting number.
