It may be due to the change [high] in the screen voltage. You just open your tv and locate the screen control. You cn see it attached with the LOT [Line Output Transformer]. There are two controls integrated to it and are adjustable. Out of which, one is for facus adjustment, and the other is for screen adjustment. Usually the upper one is meant for focus adjust, and the lower one for screen adjustment, and there will be visible markings near it about which is it meant for. Just turn it counterclokwise a little, say very little, while the tv is on and there is screen on it, whether it is blue back or grains. More turn counterclockwise will make the picture in your tv get smeared. A little must be done.

Frist of all the tv is made by Funai the next thing is it is very hard to get parts from Funai at least it has been for me they tell me anywhere from 2 months to a year on parts. Now if the set is trying to load a tape without a tape being put in then shuting off you have a bad diode on the main board.Part is marked (D1224 on main board which it is called (LED) the Funai part number is (QPQS1R563ST) Need to replace this LED per Funai tec i have done this on a few of these models this problem stands true for 20 inch 24 inch and probley any others that are made by Funai that would have this kind of problem. The led that im talking about is under the VCR chasie in the center of the board and is clear glass looking. It has to be put inone way for it to work you have to unsolder it from the board. If you are not able to do this then it would need to go to a repair shop to be done. The shop may or may not know what is wrong so you could tell them, let them know that this is per Funai tec fix for this problem also give them the part number and hope that it does not upset them some shops would be ok with it and others would not.

Remove the cover on the back of the tv. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. They kinda look like batteries. If they are bulging or leaking then that is your problem. You will have to de-solder the old ones off. Then solder the new capacitors onto the circuit board. Capacitors will cost about 20 dollars and installing them isn't that hard to do. It will fix your tv 99% of the time. So it is worth a try!

This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them. If you get and the situation doesn't changes when you unplug them then this is a mechanical defect: the small switch inside the headphone jack is faulty and keeps signaling that the headphones are plugged in when they are not.
The only way to fix that is to replace the jack, which involves a very delicate soldering procedure , one that only a good repairman can do - you must call one.
