It has no web cam. The instructions show it, but only because the guide also covers the E727 which DOES have a camera.

each system comes with its own software...
Hp g60-265dx comes with Cyberlink Youcam and that gives access to the webcam, without being on a live video chat or messenger video chat...
so check in your all programs and see if you see one associated with you camera..
if not check on the manufacturers website and it will give you the link to the software that will work...

As happens all too frequently, when your computer updates the updates can often inadvertantly interfere with some features such as touchpads, mics, etc. going into device manager and updating the device driver should clear these problems up. If it does not it is advisable to roll back the driver to a previous version. This bypasses the updates and prevents future occurences.

You will need to go into device manager and update the touchpad driver or alternatively if this does not work, roll the driver back to a previous version. When your comp updates some of the updates can interfere with other features such as the touchpad. Roling back the driver should correct the issue.

I own the same make and model, while there is a faceplate for a cam the e525 does not have one installed, it is available for aftermarket installation however.

You are right, you need a software. Please reinstall the webcam driver for this notebook.

I had the same problem and received the following from eMachines support:
We would suggest you to please follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue :
1. Open control panel
2. Open the Sound in control panel
3. Go to the Recording tab
4. Right click anywhere in the blank white area of the window to display the show disabled devices context menu
5. Click on "Show disabled devices" (See below)
6. Once your microphone is visible, right click on it and be if not already ticked, click on "Enable" - this should get your microphone working.
The device (microphone) that needs to be enabled is actually called "Stereo Mix". --Ted

Hi, First step, the obvious: make sure any software or drivers that came with your webcam are properly installed, that your webcam plugged in, etc. If all of this checks out, try restarting your computer.

must be the problem with the sound device or the device being mute check well and if you had driver problems download the driver and install it to get the latest version of it

Go to google and type your Acer model no with webcam drivers it will give you list of letest drivers downloard and run that it will start working

If the volume playing music or on any other site is ok, then its just down to the tv program you are watching, most web players have a volume slider, is the volume up full?
If it is you may need to use a pair of speakers or headphones
