Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

aside from checking connections to see they are right, if using a box remove it and the set from power for a while and then power back to see if it will help or not.

You must remove the tv from its case, there are fuses and fuse links all over the place on the many circuit boards inside the tv.

It may be in safety shutdown due to shorted circuits, or failed power supply due to bad caps. You need troubleshooting.

your problem is your power supply....you have to do is remove the cover find the power supply and remove it from the unit....you have a two options 1 is you buy 1 set of power supply and the other is repair that buy finding open resistor and shorted diode and transistor and also leak capacitor thank you

Absolutely NO! Although it may be close, you will find a poor startup just as if the set was still bad. The capacitor you need is of course a 25 volt 1200MF. In this case a 35 volt 1200MF will work. I would suggest in this case a next up voltage with the correct MF. In this case the best sub is the 35 volt 1200MF. Check out Matelectronics.com. or MCM Electronics.com or Mouser Electronics .com. If you have a local Electronic supply store they may have what you need. I do not believe you will find it at Radio Shack. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Please check your power capacitors for defective and replace them accordingly

check your power supply board, the problem can be:

1. check the fuse
2. check the capacitor if puffed you have to replace
3. check the main mosfet chopper if shorted you need to replace it;

if you are not a trained technician and you don't have idea about electronic you have to call for service.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

Yes, just did one works great. If my research is right this circuit is actually 29 volts. destined to fail from the get go.

It may be a safety thermistor component inside tripping as it overheats just as you suspect - working like an electrical fuse, but responds to heat instead. They can go faulty and start turning the power off too soon

Another possible cause is a dry solder joint (very common problem). It's ok while cool, but after a few minutes of being on, the heat in TV causes the tiny solder break to widen just enough to switch it off.


If you can leave it on with the fan blowing on it, and it does keep going on & off without you touching it, then i'd say it's 95% certainly a thermistor.

If it turns off, and you have to turn it back on manually (it goes onto standby or off completely), then it could be either, causing the problem.

Another final thing I see as possible is, the screens inverter can be heating up and going off (the TV will stay on really, but the screen will go black as if it's off, and when cooled even slightly it can turn back on again. You can check this easily by putting a bright lamp close up to the screen. The picture will still be there, but very very dark - a flat light gently touching against the screen will allow you to just about see the TV picture.

(the screen inverter is a special high powered circuit that takes a lower voltage (usually about 12 volts) and converts into a huge amount needed to work the powerful bulbs in TV screens.
