Thick line down middle of RCA LCD television.

the problem may be a combination of three things, it may be the lcd panel, the main printed circuit board, or the logic printed circuit board, the small circuit board that the panel plugs into sometimes. replace either one at a time or all, these situations always come with some trial and repeat testing. Good luck.

RCA 42" lcd tv won't turn on

Must be a dirt cheap part if they are willing to absorb that cost and just charge for labor/ unit is out of warranty. May be a power supply issue and that is something worth checking if the supply is very reasonable in cost. I have picture but no sound through my hdmi

When using VGA, you will need to run another cable from the audio out of the other device to the red and white RCA connectors on the back of the TV labeled Audio Input (left & right).

I am getting no sound

Check to see if speakers are switched off inside the set(menu)If you have a DVD etc hooked to a rear input look to see if sound that way.If you use a cable or sat box for signal it has audio settings that can cause this.A few sets even have internal/external speaker settingsIt could be a circuit problem but try the simple things first==a box can also cause this if hooked via the rear inputs of the set (unplug box and plug back to see if will reboot.)

Rca l42fdh37 blue light on but not power

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not. Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom. What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.4_3_2012_1_05_57_pm.jpg4_3_2012_1_06_30_pm.jpg

RCA L42FHD37 42 in. HDTV LCD TV does not turn on

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress from www.shopjimmy.com

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

I have a picture but no sound sound on HDM2.I have

Reset the receiver by unplugging it for 10 seconds then plug it back in. Unplug the HDMI cable from the TV and the receiver and plug it back in. If you are still not getting any sound connect another component (VCR, DVD Player, etc.) to the same TV, using same cable, same input, and same channel to see if it works. If it still doesn't work with the other component, replace the cable. If it works then give us a call at 1-800-333-DISH (3474) for some additional troubleshooting. We hope this helps. What are the comcast remote codes for Sony

If you have this comcast Universal Remote - Red OK/Select Button here are the codes Sony 11100, 10000, 11317

if this doesn't work use the search mode

Searching For You our Code
If your home entertainment device does not respond to the remote control after trying all of the codes listed for your brand, or if your brand is not listed at all, try searching for your code.
For example, after trying all of the codes for your TV, you still cannot get the remote control to operate your TV, then:
1. Turn on your TV.
2. On the remote control, press TV once. Then press and hold Setup until the TVTV key blinks twice, then release Setup.
3. Enter 9 - 9 - 1. The TV key will blink twice.
4. Press and release the digit 1. The TV key will blink twice.
Note: Substitute 1 with 0 if searching for a Cable code, 2 if searching for a DVD, VCR or PVR and 3 if searching for an Audio device
5. Press Power and aim the remote control at the TV and press CH + one or more times until the TV turns off.
NOTE: In the search mode, the remote control will send IR codes from its library to the selected device, starting with the most popular code first.
6. Press Setup once to lock in the code. The TVTV key will blink twice.
7. To search for the codes of another device, repeat steps 1 to 5, but substitute the AUX key for the device you are searching for.
Checkcking the Codes
If you have set up the remote control using the Searching For Your Code
procedure, you may need to find out which five-digit code is operating your equipment. Perform the following steps after setting up your devices to find out which five-digit code operates your equipment. For example, to find out which code is operating your TV:
1. Turn on your TV.
2. On the remote control, press TV once. Then press and hold Setup until the TV key blinks twice, then release Setup.
3. Enter 9 - 9 - 0. The TV key will blink twice.
4. To view the code for the first digit, press 1 once. Wait 3 seconds and count the number of times the TV key blinks (e.g., 3 blinks =3) and write down the number in the left most TV Code box (at end of this section).
NOTE: If a code digit is "0", the selected mode key will not blink.
5. Repeat step 4 four more times for the remaining digits. Use 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the fifth digit. Finish writing down the code in the TV Code boxes (at end of this section).

It can be a pain but once you get it down its a cake walk.
