Sharp LC-32SB21U 32 in. LCD TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How to change aspect ratio on sharp tv?
You cant change the aspect ratio. You can stretch and zoom programs . Some programs like movies are in letterbox and you can stretch to fill the screen, but the results are not perfect. Circles will be oval and you will cut off some of the viewable picture. This is normal

It sounds like you have some capacitors that have gone bad or changed value. The place to look is in the power supply boards. Notice the top of the caps have an indented X or V which is really a vent. If the cap over heats it will bubble out a brown residue on top of the cap. The top of the cap is supposed to be flat, if it's not flat but has a dome, replace it. You have to take the caps out of circuit to properly check them with a capacitance meter. Also bad solder joints on the power supply boards will give you these symptoms. Hair line cracks in solder will separate when cold but will expand and connect when warm. That's why it may start working after it's on for awhile.
Manual switch ok but remote not fundtion sharo tv
Be assured that fault does not lie with the remote handset itself. In that case repair or replace it.Remote control system has two parts. One is the remote hand set and the other lies within the TV or other device for which remote controller is being used. The hand set transmits commands in shape of singnals of particular frequency and pulses per second depending on the key pressed. The other part of the remote system lying within the TV receives, decodes and responds according to the commands received in shape of signals of particular frequency and pulses of paricular width and sequence. The remote controller uses invisible infra red light as the carrier of the signal. As the light moves in straight path, no obstacles should block straight line of sight path between the remote hand set (the transmitter) and IR sensor window (part of the receiver). Hence remove the blockage from the front side of the TV.Check if the IR sensor is not defective. Check if the associated circuit and components inside the TV are not defective.Check if the TV has any switch for selecting only manual mode and locking the remote mode.Hope, some sytematic exercise will bear the successful result.

Sharp LC-32SH130K always goes back to same Channel
go to the menu option and restart your TV settings to the factory settings. If you event can not use the menu and same thing happens, there is something wrong with the remote; maybe a button is being pressed all the time or there is some conductive material stick to the electric board.
Sony won't turn on
Hi,Please let me know the exact model no. of your TV to accurately diagnose where the fault came from. Also, please check what is the status of the LED at the front panel, does it has a steady, blinking light, if blinking, please count how many times it will flash. Some of the blinking LED denoting an error code.Jdvillanueva
Sharp tv difficulty starting. Will
I have not worked on this particular model. But, I wopuld certainly say you have a couple of bad capacitors in the power supply. You will need to remove the back cover. Weak or bad capacitors will cause your TV to do exactly what you describe. You may note these capacitors will be bulged. The values may or could be 35 volts at 1000Mfs. Once again, I do not know the exact values. In most cases these capacitors in many other brands will have this value. This info is a very good start for repairs. Hope this will clue you into a repair. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!
The remotes for the tv
Check to make sure the batteries are installed correctly or replace the batteries.
Also make sure nothing is blocking the view from the remote to the tv.
I have a Sharp AQUOS LC-32D47UA 32", black box
Press the cc button on your remote control. You want cc to be off. Play around with the cc button to become comfortable. Press it over and over again. Observed that a different closed captioning option appears on your screen each time you press the cc button. Now press cc and when it says cc off do not press the button anymore.
Tv will not come on with remote
Well on thing to try is a direct tv remote.Or a dish network work since they are universal. So if you try to program them and still nothing with those than your sensor on the tv itself is bad.
Remote function on LC-32SB21U stopped
Hi,
This is a common problem with Sharp LCD models. This seems to be a faulty IR circuit. A simple solution that sharp gave to their customers - unplug the TV for few minutes, say 15 minutes and then plug it in. Most of the times it would work. This is more of a design fault as there is a problem with IR circuit that somehow freezes and needs a reboot. They have certain upgraded firmwares for the same. It could be due to faulty IR sensor ( though rare possibility ).Unfortunately, this is not a DIY and you need to call Sharp.
Note - This is a common problem and Sharp is aware. Calling a local tech would not help as this has to be taken care ONLY by Sharp.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Try going into your setup menu. Look for a setting for "Cable/Air". Try switching it to Cable and then doing a channel search. If you are using a cable box try setting channel to 3 on tv. Those are the two easiest things I can think of off the top of my head without seeing it.
Sharp LC-37SB24U will not turn on
From the information you have provided failed capacitors in the power
supply is likely causing the problem. The safety circuitry shuts the TV
set down when it detects a problem. This model of TV has over 2,000
parts which include millions of transistors inside the integrated
circuits. The capacitors will change value, leak and become defective.
Resistors will change value and burn. Integrated circuits and
transistors can go bad. This can cause other components to become
defective, which can have a domino effect and cause other parts to fail.
Replacing one defective part may make the TV operate for a short time
but the part will fail again since if the parts that caused the failure
to begin with are not replaced. The only way to know for sure what is
causing the problem, which parts that are no longer within factory specs
and for proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed by someone
with the correct electronic test equipment and the skills to use the
test equipment. The repair should cost about $250 if carried into a TV
repair shop. A small TV repair shop will often charge less than a large
repair facility.
