Every model is different. Cannot give you instructions when I do not know what product you have.

HP Serial numbers do not tell you year of manufacture. Most products will have the date on them. If not, printing out the configuration page should show a Inservice ID which will tell you when this product was first setup.

Most printers will tell you which cartridges are low and need to be replaced. If you have this feature available in your printer utility software then check it and if the red isn't low then leave it alone.

Not sure what type of HP printer you have, but I have a 4620, and had the same thing occur with the black ink. After a few hours on the phone with HP and them sending me a replacement printer that also wouldn't print, I found that there is a "vent" on the printer cartridges that if clogged, will cause that color not to print. The vent is on the top of the cartridge, facing up when installed into the printer. The vent looks like a "T". Unfortunately, the packaging that HP uses on these cartridges sometimes causes glue to clogged the vent. Take a sharp nail or straight pin, and clean out the vent. Hope this is successful for you.

When printing a color image, black is usually made by combining the other three colors (cyan/magenta/blue). Check the black ink tank, replace it if empty, try a cleaning cycle if not empty.

Not all SD cards work in a printer. The SD must Fit properly to start. If it is the proper fit, make certain it is a Formatted Card with the ability to read and write data. If you have data on the card, try it first in a card reader on a computer to see if the SD is active and working. Make certain the Card Reader on the printer is setup as per the manual. That sounds like a fairly simple fix - using your printer's model number, do an online search for replacement parts. If you're fairly handy, you should be able to do the job yourself. If you have a friend or relative who's handy, they should be able to do it. Use the HP print utility and run through the tests. One bad cartridge will muck up the color completely. There should be a clean print head option. Run it if the initial color test shows a clog.
