Sony VAIO VGN-NR240E/S Laptop Questions & Answers
I just start my computer
Hi bonny thokch,
If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.
Here are some steps that you can try.
1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left from the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)
2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor. You may need to press the Fn + F10 or F6, depends on the key designed on the keyboard to toggle between displays.
3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.
4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the issue not to POST.
5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps.

I cant turn on my
Please look at the corners of your screen - does it say "Safe Mode" there? If not, there is a chance your graphics have been reset incorrectly by an application, in which case you can right click on the desktop and adjust the resolution using "Personalize" and "Display Properties". If this has not fixed the problem, try shutting down your computer from the start menu. Once the computer has been fully shut down, wait 10 seconds and power it back on, while holding the "F8" key. This should display your boot options for the operating system. From here, select either "Last Known Good Configuration" or the name of your current operating system. Good luck solving your problem!

Hello -
Depending upon where (in your home?) you use your Sony Vaio laptop (via WiFi?) you may need a WiFi booster or extender. Or, you may find that moving your WiFi router to another location in your home will improve your connection without diminishing the connections for other laptops used in your home.
Perhaps the information here will prove instructive:

Note: If the router needs to be moved in your home, you will probably need a technician for your Internet provider to come to your home to relocate it and connect it properly.

Apple mobile device usb drivers has malfunctioned and exceed the power limits of its hub port.
Ewwwwwww... no fun.
You should try a
"POWERED"
4 Port USB 3.0 Hub
It's important that it's a
"POWERED HUB" because you need
the HUB to supply it's
OWN power and not depend on your Apple E to provide power to your connected USB devices!
The good news is they don't cost much:
$8 on eBay
Auction: 202096902632
Note that they include the power supply! Many other HUBS don't.
Your HUB is even LESS if you pick on the USB 2.0. Version,
AND YES, each HUB MUST have it's own power supply and that's just what YOU need.
The ONE thing I didn't like about this HUB is the LED lights that are provided for each port! They are TOO bright so I opened it up and plucked all but one LED out. I also bought the 8 and 10 Port HUB versions and 'fixed' them too.
I also didn't need the switches to confuse things (accidentally turn one or more ports OFF)... so my trusty hot glue gun fixed that! All are constant ON now.

Gotcha... it MAY be a internal ribbon cable to your screen is loose (or not seated 100%) OR sometimes a cable one conductor inside the cable breaks and acts like a switch ~ providing a OK display sometimes ~ or not.
A PC repair shop will take a quick look for you for X-Bux and IF it is a loose connector/ribbon cable they MAY be able to fix it for you on the spot... A decent camera repair shop may be a answer for you too? They are very familiar with tiny screws and display repairs. Be careful though and don't spend too much...
I would not recommend you open it yourself because sometimes things go "boing" and tiny things go flying.

Sony vaio onetime password
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-
