Sure it can...but in many cases with a lightning strike multiple circuit boards will be damaged as may well be the power supply. By the time you figure out what board(s) are bad, wait for the parts, and then cross your fingers and hope it works, you'd be better off with a new one. You won't wait for the use of it, the cost won't be much more than repairs for the old one would have been, and you will have one you know works. Best thing to do if you don't want power issue messing with the set next time is to buy an inexpensive UPS to use with it. It will maintain proper voltage and provides better surge/lightning protection than the everyday power strips do.
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Hi,
Please disconnect and then reconnect the 2 devices before moving forward. But you can wait 45 seconds before re-connecting the devices. If that does not work, please reference the manual for your contour box. Thank you.
Pull the mains plug and count to exactly 50 and plug it back in. This is a sort of a reset.
All televisions need a remote. Just buy a new one. Buy it for the specific model. Nobody buys universal remotes any more.

Try are Factory Reset to set the picture settings to default. If that doesn't fix it, you will need a repairer or a new one. They are a 'cheap' brand.
