Panasonic KX-TGA510 Cordless Phone Questions & Answers
When a call comes in it rings one time then stops
This is often caused by a partial short on the phone line. I would first test the line at the incoming interface. If this is a standard phone line(not from a cable company or broadband provider), there is usually an outside interface box where the phone line connects to the building wiring. Open the right side of the box with a screwdriver. In this box there is typically a short line cord plugged into a modular jack(test jack), if you unplug this line cord and connect a standard phone, you will be connected to the phone line but isolated from the building wiring. Make a test call to your number with the standard phone connected to the test jack and if the problem continues then the trouble is on the phone service provider's side and you will need to report the trouble to your service provider. If the trouble does not occur with the phone connected to the test jack, then the trouble is on the building side. To find where the trouble is on the building side you will need to use a process of elimination to test each of the outlets, line cords, telephones and cabling to determine where the short is. This process can often take a lot of time and patience to find the trouble. It may be best to call a telephone tech at this point. If your service is from a cable company or broadband provider, then you will need to test the line at the equipment that converts the cable or broadband into dialtone to determine if the trouble is on the service provider side or the building wiring side. Send a comment if you need more information on finding the trouble in your building wiring, outlets or telephones.
