CHECK THE SPEAKER LINE IF ANY PROBLEM IS SEE THEN CHANGE THAT LINE

Sounds like the RF (radio frequency) module may be bad. If your battery is really old it could also be the problem, especially if the problem is more likely to happen after the phone has been off the charger stand for some time.

Real easy... remove the battery and you'll see 2 screws. then start peeling the phone in half from where the screws were.. the phone may seem like its breaking but it does snap apart... then you will needs a soldering iron to replace the antenna..

There is a section on setting the number of rings in the manual for the base unit on page 28. You can download it from here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/Expandable-Systems/model.KX-TG2740S

you dont need to deregister it if you have not registered all 8 hand sets with your base unit. Just register the new one and the base will assign a new # for this new. I you had registered 8 hand sets with your base already, you need to remove(deregister0 one handset from your base(it can take only upt 8).
If it still not registering please deregister as follows:
on the base unit, press program, them mute, then enter 335#, then enter the handset number you wish to deregister.
after deregistering try to register your new hand set.

It probably needs a new battery.

IF it was a used handset it was likely registered to another base. I just switched bases (1line to a 2 line base). I had to "deregister" the handsets from the old base. I am not sure if you can deregister if the old base is not present? With the old base plugged into power I hit the "function key" at the bottom left of the handset and scrolled down to initial settings. Under registration is "deregistration". I selected that and it put the handset back to its default out of the box. Then simply hit the mute button on the New base and OK on the handset. Worked for all 5 of my old handsets.

Hope this helps
