Bearings for electric motor
replacing bearings can be tricky, but if you are willing to try most of these motors use 6203 2rs c3 bearings all for the back bearing, the front could be 3 different sizes. after removing them bring the rotor to your local pool pump motor repair shop, and have them remove and replace. about $20.

I have a hayward power flo matrix 1081 sp1515-z-1-esc pump.
if you have indications of a motor problem, you shouldnt need to disconnect it to diagnose. if your pump is higher than the level of the pool, there should be unions both at the front and top so that it will disconnect from the system quickly and water loss is minimal. if your pump is below the level of the pool, there should be valves to stop water flow as well as the unions to remove it from the system. plan B is to describe what you hear\see and let a pro point you in the right direction.

Marathon wiring
Are you sure? Single phase pool motors are not reversible (unless something weird happened that I can't explain). Three phase motors are reversible, but very rare in residential wiring.
Looking directly at the end of the motor shaft (where the impeller goes) it should spin counter- clockwise. Both of the power wires can be attached to either terminal; there is no "polarity".

How to wire a doughboy pool pump to a toggle switch
Wire that is between your power source and the pump, needs to be broken/spliced in, with a switch.
If this is a 240 wired motor/pump then Both "hot" wires need to be broken by the switch. If 120, then it is possible to just break the one hot wire. That will be the (Normally) black wire. But be very careful in this as Electricity is "Color Blind"! It does not care what the wire color is. Checking with a meter is always wise & when working with electricity wires, ensure power breaker shut off switches are in the "Off" position.
I posted the two different types of switches you can get at a hardware store.

Pump will not prime
If pumps don't prime there is a reason:
Enough water in the pool or spa?
Is the o-ring on the lid at the pump pot?
Is the lid tight enough?
Does the pump need to "Pull" water to the pump from the body of water for a great distance or height? If so, then you need to be diligent in getting the water to the pump.
Or the Pump Shaft Seal is worn.

I have a sp-710x32 Vari-Flor
Thank
you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.
You
need to replace the gasket inside the valve to stop the leak. The gasket kit is
pretty cheap and not too hard to replace. It should be a "go kit 10" or gkit10. You should be able to call any local
pool store to get the part you need without any
trouble. The kit includes other gaskets parts to ensure as you replace the key gasket you change the rest while you are at it. You may be able to just purchase the key gasket but for the money difference, the kit is the way to go.
