How to set the time on a malibu model ML300RTW
you would spin the clock dial to where it will line up with an arrow pointing to the clock. Make sure that you have the A.M. and P.M. correct. Most of the time the dial is black or gray for P.M. and always white for A.M. Good luck!

My 300 watt transformer turns on and operates for
I would try disconnecting the wire going to the lights and then see if it does it still. If it does not try just hooking up one fixture, and so on... it could be a problem with one of the fixtures or a connection at a fixture. If it is still hot with no lights attatched your unit will need to be replaced. Good luck!

I have a ML300RTW and
I do not think that you can purchase a switch, if so the only one that would sell it would be Malibu. I would try on line to them direct as one last try before having to purchase a new timer. The amount of lamps that you have on this clock is not to many, you just need to add the total wattage of all lamps on transformer and as long as you do not exceed the rating (in your case 300 watts) you will be fine.

The timer remains on all the time. I have to
The BLACK flag is for ON time. The RED flag is for OFF time.
Set the Black flag into the rotating timer for the time of day you want the timers to turn ON and the Red flag for the time you want to turn the lights OFF.
Once you have the flags in rotate the timer dial by hand and note when the lights go on and off. Adjust the flags as needed.
Set the timer for the correct time of day and plug in.
Also, you can check the Intermatic web site for additional information.

ML 300RTW
First test your ac voltage going into the transformer. Then with the lights disconencted check the voltage at the terminals. (make sure your tester reads 12V DC) If you have voltage now, then you most likly have an open circuit or a short in your lighting wiring, or fixture socket.

Malibu 300-Watt Low Voltage Transformer ML300RTW Not Functioning
jmtarutani,
Try to find the receipt and take it back to the store while you still can, otherwise you'll have to deal with shipping it back to the manufacturer under the 5 year warranty. Sometimes, if you call them first, a manufacturer will go ahead and ship the product out the day or two after your call, then trust you to send it in. I did that with a Supreme water pond pump. Some companies want satisfied customers,

I currently have a 600 watt power pack w/timer on
20A circuit x 80% service factor =16amps continuous. 16amps x 120V = 1920 wats. Your total would be only 900 watts. I have assumed that since you have a 20A ground fault breaker that you have #12 ga copper conductors. If you had a considerable distance the 16 amps continuous would drop due to voltage drop and so the total wattage would also, but you're way below these levels.

The timer is not working. Can I buy the timer unit
Yes you can I was actually about to purchase one myself. I left mine on it's side for a couple of years and the mud built up on the inside.

Where is the manual ON/OFF switch on the ML300RTW
It is located next to the mechanical timer wheel. It's not so much a switch as is it a small black stem that you have to turn (clockwise) to turn the timer ON or OFF without advancing the timing wheel.
Hope this helps and you find it Very Helpful - best regards!

Intermatic ML300RTW not working
Yes this loose strands is probably the issue, the Transformer is working too hard and shuts down. you can make sure by removing all the bulbs but the last one and turning the transformer on, if it fails- you've got bad wiring. move the x-former closer to the lights so you don't have very much bad wiring.
