TitanNet TITANTANKLESS. COM PRESENTS THE TITAN SCR2 WHOLE HOUSE TANKLESS WATER HEATE - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Electrical current in the water when my Titan water heater is on.
All it takes for that to happen is a small slice in the coating of one of the hot wires and then a bit of moisture for the current to travel to the ground wire which then transfers it to the water. I would also check that the ground wire is rproperly connected in the breaker panel and that you have a good ground rod and good connection to it outside and from the panel. That should be a better ground than you which it wasn't. If you can wrap the wires with a good electrical tape it should solve your shocking problem, but not your bad ground issue which you also have.

There are a few possible reasons for your problem. First of all if the distance from the panel to the hot water tank is approaching 100 feet you will have to change to 4 gauge wire.
Second issue is voltage drop. If you have a meter check to see how much voltage you have at the breaker and also at the hot water tank. If the voltage is low call the utility company and ask them to come out and increase the voltage for you.

Unit stopped heating.
If you have opened the unit and are reading power to the heating elements then the element(s) are open and need to be replaced. Contacting the company is your only option.

Hot water is running very slow
Definitely calcium is your problem. If you want to work on this your self turn off the power and drain the tank into a bucket, you will find lots of calcium in the tank. Rinse it out a couple times with fresh water, and vinegar.

I have a Titan SCR2
Hi,
Have you tried the reset button???

There is very little help for these...you can also try the number on the unit for service, but I've heard that they are worthless also...
Other then that check for power at the elemenst and see if you are getting power to them but they are not heating... this would indicate a bad heating element...

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.
Check the power output of the thermocouple. Often times as they weaken the power output drops well below the 750mV they should develope and will not be high enough to pop open the vgas valve unless you help it with the 'bump'. Even then it struggles with holding the valve open and eventually lets it close.
Thermocouples wear out over time and are a common part to replace every several years. You should be able to remove the old one and take it to any local appliance parts store for a replacement.

I install a titan and
What you have installed is the #1 rated electric tankless on the market...very few failures, problems. You state the light is coming on, so you have power. This is a 54 amp unit, so on your installation, it is important that you used a 60 amp breaker and changed out your 10/2 wiring to a 6 guage. If you purchased your titan new, then niagra industries in Miami will have no problem replacing your unit. This thing has a tremendous track record for reliability, so if yours has failed, believe me, the engineers at niagra will want to know what caused it...(I know them personally). Contact them, they will replace your unit promptly. Do not try to tear into it as that will void the warranty.
