Titan tankless hot water heater will not go off standby.

There are FAQ's at the following location:

Could be a few things. Most common are reversing the water flow (putting your cold water input into the units hot output instead of the other way around) or not bleeding the air out of the unit (running water for a minute with the unit off) before using it. Could be a bad flow detector switch or an internal malfunction as well. If you review the link above and my tips and don't find anything then contacting the company is probably your best option.

Flow switch

OK, mine is back to running. This is going to sound so weird but I think my magnetic switch and spring disintegrated and may have run through the machine unnoticed. I was trying to get what I thought was the magnetic switch out of the cold water end. It would not come out. Luckily I did not damage the heater. It must be part of the reed switch. I put the replacement part and spring in and when pushed could hear the reed switch closing. I tightened up the compression fitting and it works. Back in hot water.

We have a titan n-180

It is probably the thermostat sticking. It is susposed to trigger only when there is water flow, but yours seems to be stuck on.

SINCE YOUR UNIT IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD, and it has a 10 year warranty http://www.titanheater.com/warranty.php if you open it up yourself, you will void your warranty. So think twice before you open it up.

Scr2 titan water heater. No hot water. Both red

On the left side of the board there is a 10K 5Watt resistor that gets loose from the board because of overheat and it needs to core solder back with soldering iron.

Titan SCR2 Stopped working.

I have the Titan SCR2 N-120. You may have a different model. On mine if you are looking at it just a inch below & 1 inch to the left of dead center will be a round black sticker(it has some white lines like at&t's logo). there's a pin hole in the middle of the sticker that you can poke to reset. Or turn the breaker off then take the 2 screws out of the top of the unit. It's just a thin metal cover that you can pull back & look inside. You'll see a red circular button thats the reset button. It's right behind where the hole I was talking about & what gets pushed in. you'll also be able to see if anything burned out & can get replacement parts at titanheater.com . One of my heater elements had burn/ melted & I've ordered a replacement. It was $17 + $11 s&h but still cheaper than $200 new unit from e b a y. Best of Luck

How do I install my hot water heater?

Youtube offers many videos of the water heater installation. Drain first with a garden hose. after turning off water and unplugging electric or shut off gas. If changing to a tankless, remember they often require a larger vent pipe to the roof. 4" usually, not the 3" for tank water heaters. Local building codes may require a permit and a larger Gas feed pipe. Also if you're going to use the old Pressure Relief Valve DO NOT test the valve by activating the little lever. Once used over time their internal seals weld onto the closed seat and tend to rip and leak if you test the valves function. Replace with new ( $15) if it's been operated. Most plumbers now use Braded Feed Lines from/to the Water sources, making future replacements easier. You might find the replacement Tank is not the same geometry as the old one, having longer braided feed lines helps when they are on opposite ends of the tank top and the original feed lines are copper and wont reach the new tank pipes or the tank gas starter door is on the back side requiring you to rotate the tank 180. If you're changing size, measure the width and height. It might not fit the old installation.
