There are several portions for a ceiling fan... it sounds as if the small motor that actually turns the blades shorted / or burned out.

The ballast is still available on the internet, just Google "veb82122." They want $37 plus shipping. You can also but a 22W Circiline ballast at Home Depot that will work for about $18. (Lowes does not carry them). The original ballast is a solid state design, light weight and instant on. The Home Depot ballast is the heavy transformer kind and a real pain to modify the bracket to make it fit. I have 8 of these Hunter fans and I have installed the Home Depot ballast on two if them so far, but I think that I will order the solid state version as a spare for the next time.

There is a pull chain switch inside the fan termination housing. you will have to take the little cover off and remove the switch. it has 2 small screws with wire landed under them. Turn off the power at the breaker before working on the switch. take this little ****** out and put in a new one. you can get them at the Home Depot or equivelant. it don't matter if the new switch is a little bigger but it still has to fit. use some judgement here. wire it in the place of the old one, turn the power back on at the breaker and it should be ready to go. Presto.

mcdevito75 here, The lights should work from the wall light switch and the fan from the pull chain on the fan itself. The fan and the lights come off the same wall circuit so if the fan works, so should the lights, however in the fan assembly itself 1 wire was for the lights and 1 wire was for the fan. You'll have to pull the fuse to that fan, and remove the cover to the fans wireing at the ceiling., Now you can see the fans wireing, I'll bet the wire to the lights has fallen offf due to the vibration of the fan. Hook up the loose wire and the lights should work. If you can"t do the work, look for a handy man in your building / Area.

I had same problem. The ballast is bad and I'm lloking to see if I can get just the ballast. I know the ballast is bad because I had an identical light kit that I hadn't installed on another light yet and used it to see if the first ballast was bad. It was. I suspect I (we) will have to get a new light kit. That kit won't be anything fancy, just something that will take a regular lamp.

Okay. Turn off circuit breaker. Take the bottom off the fan. Mark how the wires are connected. Remove switch by unscrewing the sleeve you mentioned. Take the switch to Home Depot (or the like) -- buy a replacement.

If you have to turn the breaker back on during this process, make sure you have a wire nut over the end of each of the loose wires you disconnected from the switch.

After you take the switch out, you'll know how to reinstall it, so I won't go thru that.

Don't have a solution to this problem, but I'm having a similar problem. The remote works for the fan but the other day we had a light bulb burn out and ever since then the switch on the remote for the light will not work, but the fan works just fine. If anyone has a solution please post it or email me at [email protected] Thanks
