You don't state if the unit is on charge when it happens, or if it is all the time. You also do not state what model, and Uniden makes hundreds of products. But, it is probably an inadequate load on the charger, which would mean the battery is toast.

The Uniden XDECT 8315 does not have an answering machine. It will check your voice mail. Setting that greeting depends on your telephone service provider. Check your provider's voice mail FAQ. To have your XDECT 8315 get your voive mail messages, press Message and then select Voice Mail. Then follow the prompts to enter your voice mail access number. Alternatively, you can press Menu > Global Menu Settings > Edit Voice Mail. See pages 17 and 32 of the manual. (See the link below.) If you do not have voice mail from your telephone company, you can add a stand-alone answering machine. Just make sure to connect the answering machine to the telephone jack. Usually you can press block calls again it will give you your list of numbers and you can usually unblock from there. If nothing helps call Uniden customer service and they will help you.

If you need to change the greeting then you should use custom greeting to suit your needs. Go to Menu and then settings for answering system go to greetings and it should give you instruction.

what do you mean by "announce"? if it is the red flashing light say so as there is a fix for that problem

Can you try using a corded phone in the jack?

I don't think you can transfer to external. You can make a 3 way call, but then you would have to stay on the line to keep that line open.

Unfortunately, you can't transfer from the old to the new. There is no data transfer port (usb) and you will have to manually enter your phone numbers into the new phone.

The problem sounds like a wiring fault to me. Landlines ring when the POTS (plain old telephone system) provides power on the receive wire. See https://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for the RJ-11 wiring diagram. Try a different phone at the jack and a different telephone cord. If it rings constantly, that tells you the problem is with the wiring in the building or outside. You need to find where additional electricity is coming into the telephone wiring. Check the jack first. Most jacks either have screw terminals or keystones. Use the wiring diagram above to make sure that the wires are connected to the correct point. If you have the screw type of terminal, you need to strip the insulation from the conductors before securing the wires. For the keystones, leave the insulation intact. Then use a punch-down tool (available at most hardware stores in the electrical section) to push the wire into the correct slot in the keystone. There must be a place where the insulation is damaged and touching another wire or water is in contact with bare metal and a current is flowing across the water. If only the Uniden phone rings constantly even with the new RJ-11 cable, replace the phone. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

You probably have voicemail through your provider with a message

The directions to set the date and time on the Uniden EXS9500 are shown in the manual starting on page 21. Press and hold the Clock button (the second button from the left below the answering system buttons) on the base until you hear a beep. Use the Skip/Repeat buttons (the two end buttons of the answering system buttons) to select the current day of the week. The LCD with show 0 through 6 and the voice prompt will list the day of the week. Press Clock when the correct day of the week is announced. Use the Skip/Repeat buttons to select the current hour (1-12). Press Clock to set the hour. Use the Skip/Repeat buttons to select the current minutes and press Clock to save the setting. Use the Skip/Repeat buttons to select AM/PM and press Clock to save the current time and exit the clock setting menu. It is the indicator that you have a voice mail (answering service that comes with your phone provider. Contact them to tell you how to access it. to access iprimus voice mail, dial your own number it will then ask for your PIN, if you have not set this up the default number is your area code ie. 02 Sydney 03 Melbourne etc. and the last 2 numbers of your phone number

open line if have more than one phone plugged into a jack unplug one at a time and check dial tone if no change have phone company check incoming line
