Paintballs fall out of tippmann
Go to ebay and buy a new ball detent for the 98 they are cheap and well worth it because how many times have you got shot for double balling :)
I attempted to put a car stock on my Tippmann 98
Check the O rings on the big metal striker, make sure that you have the spring on the back (where the stock would have went) in the right hole on the back plate. Make sure that your velocity is set to a reasonable level.
Squeeze trigger once and
if there is a 9 volt battery in the handle, there should be 3 to 5 small dip switchesright by the battery, your set on 3 shot burst, unhook the gas, turn all switches off, and test it, there is also a full auto setting, try different combinations untill you get single shot
More then one ball coming out
Your "ball detent" has worn out. This is a little rubber nipple inside the breech of your gun (where the balls go into the gun from your hopper) that has torn. This is a normal wear and tear item and will cost you only a few dollars to repair. You have to buy this part from your local paintball pro shop they will have it.
How to change the volocity of the tippmann 98
I have the exact same gun. Looking at the gun, barrel facing left. You'll see the word Tippmann. Just below and slightly right of the end of that word you will see a allen head screw. Using and allen wrench turn that screw. If you wish to raise the velocity, tighten the screw. If you wish to slow the balls down, loosen the screw (bring it out, but not too far.) The faster the paint balls go though, they have a tendency to burst (but not usually) or the big thing with mine, is they get more back spin, and they travel UP, making them also go further. If they go to slow, they are pretty inaccurate. I find my optimum performance, when the allen screw is flush with the plastic on the outside of the weapon. Hope this helps!

Wont stay cocked
If you ran out of air, it won't stay cocked.
OR
The sear may have been displaced. That would require a disassemble. It is not that difficult, just do it on a white pillowcase and be sure not to let any springs fly all over the place.
Velocity stuck at 330 fps
No O-rings are used to change volocity on Tippmann Markers. The velocity screw is on the left side and is turned clockwise to decrease and CCW to increase velocity. Typically if you turn the screw in till it stops then turn it back 2 turns the gun will shoot about 280FPS.
