Hello, Twomufflers -

Doesn't Comcast provide you with a remote to use for the cable box?

We have AT&T Uverse as our cable provider and have an AT&T remote control for each of our cable boxes.

One of our TVs is a Vizio and we only use the Vizio remote control when we need to change something through the TV menu - like when we change from HDMI input (for cable programs) to AV input to watch a DVD.

If your apex digital tv converter box is an Apex DT250

My best guess is: 0749

Here is your remote manual:

3 digit code: 864
4 digit code: 0749
5 digit code: 52478

If you can give the model number of your universal remote, maybe I can give you the code.
Post it here so I can help you further.

I have run into this problem with my Sharp Aquos as well. This is not necessarily a code problem but an interference problem.

If you take your hand or a thick book and sort of make a hood over the area of the sensor on the cable box and place the remote right up close to the sensor this will help let you know if the remote and the box are working with the code. Also might try turning off the TV or unplug the TV to test and make sure the remote will turn on the box.

Next thing after you determine this is how to block the interference and be able to use your remote. What we did is placed the Wii on top of the box over the area of the sensor and this seems to have done pretty good.

Good Luck ....

Yes, you can I just did it. I was reading everyone logs this weekeng and off to walmart i WENT. Got a 5 dollar remote. rca model rcr312w.
Contacted rca and it was simple as pointing at the dtv , holding down that button and entering in the code for Magnavox and It was on from there. We are happy with RCA.

• The speaker wires are frayed or sticking out
of the jack, and are touching the back of the
receiver or another set of wires.

• Reinsert the speaker wires, making sure there are no
stray strands of wire and that they are inserted fully.

thank you

Hello, follow this link to download the manual and the codes for your remotes:
just right click and save as on the download links.

if this does not work you can try the search method,
you do this by either holding down the device button eg: TV or if you have one the "magic" button for three seconds, a light should then flash twice to say you have done this correctly.
then press the keys 991 then the power button.
you must now press the channel up key (ch+) possibly upto 150 times while the remote cycles through every code.
Once your tv or device switches off stop pressing the ch+ key and press the power button to make sure it switches back on,
(if you press ch+ too many times you can go back by pressing ch-)
When complete press the magic or device key again to save the settings (light should flash twice to confirm)

Many thanks

You may try to get remote app on your mobile phone and select specific unit brand rather than universal to control
