Mower won't stay running

brad, if it runs for a bit and dies it has to be a fuel problem. i would take the carburetor off and clean it real good with carburetor cleaner. go ahead and put a rebuild kit in it. they are fairly cheap. check the fuel lines that they are not dry and cracked. blow out the fuel filter or replace. blow out the fuel tank make sure it is flowing correctly. some have screens in the bottom that plug up. the 2 wire thing on the bottom of the bowl is a fuel shut off valve. if the key is turned off it will push up on the needle stopping the flow of fuel. a anti back fire valve. gently pull up on the black piece you will see sticking up in the bowl. if it comes off easily it will need replaced or cut off. it may be coming off while running causing it to run out of fuel and die. after it sets for a second it looses its suction and falls back in position letting fuel back in the carburetor so it will run for a few more minutes . dont pry it or pull it off just be sure it is not loose.

Won't start,charged oil,cleaned spark plug and air filter.has gas.

If your tiller has sat for any length of time it may have stale gas and the spark plug may need replacing (not just cleaning). Always make sure all wiring and or connections are clean. You can check for spark by removing spark plug, insert it back into spark plug wiring, using a WOOD clothes pin to hold the wire, hold spark end of spark plug (holding the clothes pin only) on metal casing on machine, pull starter cord and check for spark. If you don't use a non conductive instrument such as the clothes pin you will get a nasty shock. If you have no spark it is time to change the plug. Always put your safety first! Hope this helps! Have a great day! If this doesn't work perhaps you will need more information.

Troy bilt pony, moves so fastu cant hold it back,??????

I found that when you have the tiller at full throttle it can get away easily. Try pulling back the speed a bit and change the depth of the tines to grab a bit more but not enough to launch it. Good luck! Hope this helps you. Cheers, Michele

The threaded rod that threads into the carb and holds the air filter on will not screw into the carb. I think the threads are stripped. the threads on the rod look ok. should i just JB weld the rod in

First try to run a thread tapper to clean up the threads before causing harm to the carb. Threading the hole with the next larger tap will definitely work, but it requires a larger bolt afterwards. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/scott_843b43f7ebebd3f5

How to remove pully from a TH 1002 rototiller?

Hi without having it in front of me... Do you mean pulley or flywheel? There is a lot of good info out there especially UTube videos. I am thinking if its a pulley it should have holes in it that you can jam a screwdriver in to stop it from spinning, then use a wrench or socket to get nut off. Spray the heck out of it with brake clean or WD40 first. Remember, you break it you gotta fix it!

What causes oil to come out of exhaust. was running fine 3 weeks ago.

ethanol gas for one thing. When it is left to set it breaks down the gasoline. You have a two cyc. engine (gas and oil mix) Clean the plug then take the unit and shake the unit to mix the gas back up. This may not work but its worth a try. Or drain the unit completely use non-ethanol gas make a new batch and replace plug.

Will start won't stau running got wet

Have you checked the gas tank. My bet is that water got into the tank and is being sucked up into the carb.Try suctioning out the bottom of the tank with a hand suction tool with the tiller tilted to get all the water in one corner. Then remove the bottom cup on the carb and clean it out. Re-assemble and test run! Good luck! Would like to know how it works out!
