Check you have fuel.
If fuel check fuel is getting to cylinder - the spark plug will be wet and smell of petrol (gas). If not check and clean the carburettor
Check you have a spark at the plug (not for diesels).
If it has an automatic choke make sure that it's working.
If you have fuel and a spark, you can warm the spark plugs in the oven (make sure wife is out shopping first) as this will help starting. Or try a starting fluid such as Easy Start.
If no spark then clean and gap the plugs (try new ones) make sure the leads are clean and all connections are tight. That's about it unless you're confident enough to start stripping things down.

Brakes only work with pedals locked together
So if you use one or the other you get nothing? You should have at least something on one of them. The issue may be that there is not enough friction with one pedal to stop that wheel; How do the brake pads look?
J deere 310 leaks between the hydraulic filters
Wipe down and clean the filter, filter housing and hydralic lines, run your jd until you see hydraulic fluid, stop the machine and look to see where it originated from... If it's from the filter, change the filter, make sure the old oil rings are no stuck on the housing, and there's a o ring that comes on the new filter, pre lube the filter o-ring and install,,, if it the hydralic housing or pump, check for hair line cracks, check the threads on the filter head on the housing for cross threading, and last but not least and the greatest possibility... The hydraulic line connections to the filter housings and pump... The will most likely be the issue... Spray brake cleaner all over the connections to clean them run the machine and look to see which one is leaking... When replacing the hose connections, replace with a quick connect hose end to save on value time and efforts in the future.
