Because the heater is in sensing an error with it. what error message are you getting?

Sensing not enough water flow, most common problem, dirty filter.

Try cleaning the filter, or check the water flow. It's sensing not enough water flow through your system.

Have you tried to Clean filter?

What check valve? if there is a check valve plumbed into a plumbing system, when pump comes on, then yes, check valve will automatically open! its a one way valve! The water will flow against the flapper, pushing it open! you have no control over that! And... Water always goes thru the heater! Whether it is firing or not / on or off, does not matter, if pump is on, water is also flowing thru heater.

??? what do you mean it will not heat? is the heater not coming on? If it's on then it's heating. are you experiencing a problem with the heater? Is there an error? You need to be more specific.

Turn it off at the black toggle switch inside the front panel or turn it off at the breaker for 2-3 minutes
Then try again.
Check that flow is good, gas is on ect...
Is it saying lockout on the display?
If not then as you fire it up after cutting power keep the panel off and watch the ignition control red diagnostic light.
The blinking sequence of that light should point you in the right direction. There is typically a label that will tell you what the blinks mean.
Minimax nt heaters are on borrowed time, and in most my Delong with them once they start having an issue it will never end , basically they are lemons and replacements for them is very common

ok guys remember model and brand of the heater. check the control inside the house and read the temp. if over 104 replace water temp sensor. if not control,. heater as found a faulty code and mus be reset and or fix code problem

its not sensing flame you have to look at the burners make sure all of them light. Many times spiders wil get into the gas jets, you can use a number 12 solid copper wire to insert it into the gas jet you will see it ,the flame sensor burner is not having a good flame
