Heater would not turn off using the thermostat or the on/off switch.

Start with the temp control. Your issue may require a person with a lot more knowledge and a firm understanding of how the heater operates.

Where can I find helpful instructions for replacing (removing old and installing new) thermocouple on Pentair 250k minimax ch NG mv? Thank you.

Simple:
  • Insecure bracket holding the pilot assembly to the burner tray
  • now, remove the pilot assembly from bracketry
  • unscrew old pilot generator/thermo pile or thermocouple
  • new may have a clip instead of threaded nut
    • diameter of hole is same so it should just snap into place
  • in reverse order resecure the pilot bracket to burner tray

Pilot light will light but won't stay lit in the

You probably need to change out the pilot generator. That is what tells the gas valve that the pilot is lit. They wear out after a few years. It's not a tough DIY but you may have to pull the burner tray which involves opening the gas line. A pool tech should be able to change it out for about $130.

I tried to light up

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

The pilot generator that heats up while you hold in the gas valve knob is probably not putting out enough voltage to maintain the circuit once you release the knob. You'll want to get a hold of a digital or analog multimeter and set it for 2 Volts DC to confirm this. Put the black probe to the white generator lead and the red probe to the red generator lead. Make sure the heater system toggle switch and/or thermostat are turned off for now. You should read ~400mV or more. On a 2 Volt scale it will read 0.450 or so. Anything over 400 is generally acceptable. If it is not at least 400mV you should replace it. Putting in a new generator is pretty simple. Follow the metal-wrapped red and white wires from the valve down to the pilot assembly. That piece is what you want to replace. Some places will call them pilot generators; others thermocouples. Either way replacing it should fix your heater.

My heater will not light

Do you physically see the spark or are you just hearing it. You can also take the igniter wire off of the control module and disconnect the pilot gas tubing from the gas valve. Turn the heater on and wait to see if you hear and smell gas coming out of the gas valve. If there is no gas check for 24v at the PV connection on the module. If there is voltage the problem is the gas valve. If no voltage the problem is the ignition module. If there is gas I would replace the pilot and gas tubing.

I have good pressure at the filter when operating

Does the spa have a seperate filter or valve system? Sounds like either the filter is dirty or a valve is closed. High pressure indicates a closed line and the heater will not work if there is no flow.
