I have a Bosch Classixx slimline dishwasher. I

Hello Garry,

I suspect the element in the water heater is either burning out or shorting to earth. If it's burning out, the increased resistance will cause an overload and trip the breaker or blow the fuse for that circuit. If it's shorting to earth, it may trip both the breaker and the RCD in your fuse box / consumer unit.

Next time it happens, check whether the RCD switch (assuming you have one) is in the 'OFF' position. Most breaker boxes will be fitted with an RCD which protects many, or all, of the individual circuits. It's easily identified by the presence of a 'TEST' button.

That's only going to be a clue to the likely cause of the fault though. You really need to do some testing of the element with an ammeter and/or multi-meter, if you have one. I can provide instructions for testing if you have the equipment and inclination.

Unfortunately, if it is the water heater, the cost of a replacement is about £100 for the part alone, for the SGS43C12. Water heaters for most other Bosch models are roughly the same price and some of the older models can be £130+. If you need to get someone in to fit it, you could be looking at a total bill of between £150-200. Considering the age of the SGS43C12 / Classixx, it may be time to consider replacing the dishwasher.

Obviously, I'm assuming it's the water heater as this is the most likely cause, but there are other possible faults. If you need any instructions on testing, etc, please confirm the correct model number as the SGS43C12 isn't a slimline model.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

We have a bosch s10r51b

Hi.

The spray arm is fixed to the back duct through a tab. Please see the picture below. Often the locking tab gets broken and the arm will not snap into place anymore. If you cannot find the tab make sure that there is no broken part. Sometimes I have fixed spray arms with broken attachment using plastic o rings, but that is not an ideal solution. If the arm or the duct is broken replace the part. Here parts: Buy Bosch Dishwasher Spares ' eSpares.

Here a general diagram for Bosch dishwasher sprayers:

I have a bosch classix,

Hello, when you move the float switch are you hearing the switch click as to one position of the switch makes the unit drain the other position of the switch turns the water inlet valve off from filling and activates the motor to begin the wash cycle. Also if the heating element shorts out or goes bad as they put it the unit will not go any further then to add water into the machine. Use a multimeter and conduct a continuity test on the element. If the element has no continuity then replace the element. If after you test the element you find the element and the float switch are both good then message me back for further diagnosis. Also if you have any questions message me those back as well. I await your reply Thanks Rick

Water not heating up and

Hello

If your dishwasher is not heating properly, troubleshoot the issue. You can often repair this problem and eliminate service fees.

Incoming Water
Most manufacturers recommend that the water coming into your dishwasher be at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit. If the water is too cold, then your dishes don't clean properly. Or the dishwasher must run longer to heat up the water. Test the water temperature by running the hot water on your faucet for about 2 minutes or until it gets really hot. Place a waterproof thermometer under the water. If the water is too cold, increase the water temperature setting on your water heater.

Thermostat
The thermostat is responsible for regulating the water and drying cycle temperature. If this thermostat isn't working, the heating element at the base of the dishwasher tub may not come on. Test this element by selecting the hottest temperature setting. Run the dishwasher on the shortest cycle. Let the dishwasher run for a few minutes, and open it up. If the dishwasher water is not hot or the drying cycle isn't starting, order a new thermostat from a parts dealer since this component is difficult to fix.

Heating Element/Drying Fan

The heating element heats up the water and air. Access this element by removing the bottom rack. It looks like a long black rod. If any part of this component is broken or corroded, you must order a new one. You usually cannot fix this element. The drying fan is located in the main housing of the dishwasher, and it blows air around your dishes to dry them. Check this part by disconnecting the dishwasher from the power supply and opening up the housing. Examine the fan, and see if any dirt or debris is preventing it from moving. Clean it. If the fan won't turn at all or if the motor is burnt out, order a new fan since it's difficult to repair this part.

Additional Concerns

If your dishwasher isn't drying your dishes properly, see if you have selected a heated drying cycle. An air drying cycle doesn't completely dry your dishes. Never overload the dishwasher, as this prevents heat from circulating around your dishes, keeping them from drying properly. Plastic and Teflon dishes don't usually completely dry. You must towel-dry these items.

Hi I have an Bosch

Hello

It is quite common for a dishwasher to not drain because either the drain hose or the air gap (if the unit has one) is clogged up. Drain hose clogs commonly occur where the hose is attached to the main household drain line, or where the hose connects with the garbage disposer. Try removing the drain hose to unclog any debris. Don't forget to reattach the hose before you start your dishwasher again.

The pump assembly is comprised of a pump, wash impeller, and drain impeller. The pump ejects the water from the unit, the wash impeller pushes water through the spray arm, and the drain impeller directs the water towards the drain port. Examine your dishwasher's pump assembly. Clean out any debris that may be blocking it. Replace the pump assembly if any of its parts appear to be worn or defective.

It isn't very common, but sometimes a dishwasher's pump assembly is driven by a belt. If that belt becomes worn and defective, then it cannot properly run the pump that drains your dishwasher's tub. If your dishwasher uses a drive belt, examine it now. If it shows signs of wear, replace it.

A defective timer could interfere with a dishwasher's ability to drain properly. Test your dishwasher's timer mechanism. If it is faulty, replace it. Keep in mind that you can replace either the entire timer assembly or just the timer's motor.

The motor plays a key role in a dishwasher's ability to drain water. If your dishwasher's motor is not functioning properly, it will negatively affect the draining capability of your machine. Test your dishwasher's motor for continuity. If it fails the test, replace the motor.

In some models, a valve has to open in order for the water to drain out of the dishwasher. This valve is controlled by a solenoid, but it is the timer that decides when the valve should open. If your timer is working fine, check the drain valve and its solenoid. If need be, replace them.

Water pump cuts in when

Hello Kevin,

In the bottom base frame of the dishwasher is a flood detector,it has detected water in the base and will only power the drain pump as long as the dishwasher is powered up, until such a time it has detected their is no more water in the base. To remove that water in the base, you need to get to base frame and use sponges/towels/ a shop vac ect to remove that water, then determine why it was there and tripped the flood switch. In some cases its just a matter of too much detergent so it oversudsed or their could be a leak in the water or drain pump,or any of the hoses.

Unit won't fill with water

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Daniel

Low humming noise coming from

First you will need a tester , that has 120 volt setting remove the lower cover and you should see a water valve sometimes they put them in the back of the unit also , but always near the floor, with this unit plugged in and unit turned on so that it should be filing with water, check the wires on the water valve to see if you are getting the 120 volts , if you have the power but the unit is not filling the water valve is bad , if you dont have power at the valve then the timer or door switch is bad this is all there is to this unit , I bet on a bad water valve here is a place to get parts and as always be careful when worjking with unit with power , if you need to replace anything turn main power off before seviceing unit , I have found several washers the water valve wa sjust fill of dirt , cleaned it and it worked just fine , if you need parts go here , http://www.appliancepartspros.com/ email me at [email protected]

Dishes are coming out streaked and not properly

De-scaler wont wash your dishes. The simplest cause of dishes coming out unclean is over-loading, bad stacking (spray arms blocked), or using too short a programme for heavily soiled dishes.

If it's just streaky (not food remnants), you may have the rinse-aid set too low. Open the flap where you add rinse-aid and you will see a know with an arrow shaped grip. There are 5 positions for the knob marked 1 to 5. Try a higher setting (1 is low) but don't go too high as this will cause other problems. If it's on 1, try 3 and if it's on 2 or 3, try 4 or 5. You may have to adjust this a couple of times until you get satisfactory results.

Howver, If you're referring to a white powdery residue on dishes and glasses, that's an entirely different answer . . .

If I am not mistaken, your dishwasher comes equipped with a water softener unit.
At some stage the regeneration cycle for the water softerner takes place. I am assuming the sound you hear is the solenoids of the regeneration system working.

If you are unsure you can refer to the user manual or this site for details. You will need to provide me the full model number in case you want further information.

Not emptying properly - how do I unblock

1. Check for a clog in the air gap:
That's the silver dome on the back of the sink. Not all homes have an air gap for the dishwasher. (Though it is highly recommended!) Lift off the silver cover. Unscrew or unclip the plastic cap on the top. Look inside. Toothpicks are often found there.

2. Check for debris in the sump by:
Remove the lower rack, the lower spray arm, and screens. Use a #15 Torx bit to remove the cover over the drain pump suction. The hole leading to the drain pump is on the left at the bottom. Remove any debris you find.

3. If you find no debris, you almost certainly need a drain pump. After clearing any clogs, if you hear the drain pump humming, but it doesn't turn, replace the pump.
