use a phone camera and look at the front emitter LED the camera will show the invisible output as white light, if you indeed have output showing you can be reasonably sure the remote is working, here is a link for IR sensors on the plus side they all plug into the set with no soldering and just one screw.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Press the TV (or device) button and hold for 5 seconds until the LED flashes twice. LED will remain lit. Find the programming code for your TV (or device) in the code list and enter it using the Number Buttons. The LED flashes once after entering each digit.
