Washer stops prematurely with code 03

This was always caused by a blockage of the pump. The water isn't able to be pumped out so the sequence stops rather than continuing with the wrong water still in the machine.

Our solution was to manually drain, then open the pump area and remove the coins that always were the cause of the blockage. Wish we could get our (grown) kids to stop putting pants with full pockets in the machine!

Of course, I am looking at this site today because the machine no longer turns the drum. A repairman visit resulted in the diagnosis that the power control module AND primary motor are burned out and need replacing, at an estimated $800.

Will not spin

Hi,

Make sure door mechanism is working at fine. So next is to check whether the motor tumbles both directions.
The spin bearing might be a problem, but normally you'd hear a problem here first. Have you heard any freight trains passing through the house in the spin cycle?
One thing to check for this problem is the spin speed switch. If the spin speed switch is bad then the control won't know how fast to spin, and so it will just not spin at all.
The drain pump must be draining all the water out. If the water doesn't drain out then the pressure switch won't read empty and that might prevent a spin cycle.
I hope this helps.

Will not drain or spin Have tried the x and

You need to clear out the drain pump. if you should be able to access the pump from the front bottom by unscrewing and removing the filter. If not then you will need to tilt the machine back as far as you can so you can access the underneath. You will see the small drain pump. Have a basin ready to catch any water that comes out when remove the pump which is only held in by 1 or 2 screws and twisted out or pulled out. If it is clear then try removing the pipe that goes from the pump to the base of the tub. Hope this helps

Here are main possibilities

I have a Bosch washer

Hi,

We own a Bosch- probably nearly 20 years old. I manged to get the parts I needed- but we live in France and I buy on-line from the UK!
I would go onto the Bosch site. You will probably find spares suppliers from which to inquire. Also I'm sure you could query the Bosch site directly.
I'm not criticizing your repair company but I will be very surprised if the part was not available from somewhere.

Good luck,

The water is still in

Hello. Since this problem is effected by the size of the load, it may be more difficult to pinpoint the problem. Read over the rest of this post and see if you can zoom in on the problem. If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port. Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job. If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump. It doesn't spin or pump If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. It pumps, but the water returns If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems: If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess. If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly. Joe

Hi - Our Bosch WFK2401

The fault code is actually speed sensor fault. It happens when no speed is detected by the motor control through the speed sensor. It is either a motor winding is open, harness connection to speed sensor and motor is broken, motor control is at fault, or the speed sensor itself is at fault. Check the continuity of the motor windings, speed sensor and the harness. If all of these turn out okay, then the motor control is the one at fault.

Will not cold water wash.

Hello there
I have a question for you will it fill with cold water or not if not your water fill valve in the back of the machine might be at fault it has a solonoid that sits on top of it and energizes it when the water is called for so first verify that your cold water is going to the machine if so than you can be assured that the water valve will need to be changed or repaired
Please keep me posted ok
Best regards Mike

Check that the hot water tap is on or if the valve filter is blocked. If both these are ok, it may need a new hot water valve.
Hope this helps.

We have gotten great service

Hi, It is probably the drum bearing, or one of the two rollers. I doubt it would be both rollers, but you should change both if that is the cause.
You should call in a technician to replace the roller because it is repairable.

Take care

HI. We have a WFK2401

Hello Angelapevans,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description you likely have a clogged drain pump/filter.

Here`s how to check since that would be the first logical place to start.

1) **Turn oiff the power or unplug the cord from the dryer or wall...ehichever applies to your set-up...safety first**

2) Water removal...remove toe panel.

3) Now bleed pump drain...A shallow pan is handy for this step.

3) remove pump filter, but be careful if you don't have a shop-vac or a shallow pan and towels you may get wet...

a2d80b5.jpg
*Once you`ve gotten to this point you may have trouble removing the filter if it is really plugged up with debris. You might have to wiggle it back and forth as you twist and pull.

4) When you get the filter out, visually inspect inside the pump thoroughly with a flashlight and clean it out really well. It won`t take much to prevent these from draining. i.e. a penny, hair pin, buttons etc.

Let me know if you found anything in the pump and how you make out after that.

If you removed any obstruction, simply reassemble the unit making sure the filter is screwed in tight, run a quick rinse cycle to test for leaks before putting the toe panel back on and you should be good to go...save for any leaks.

There are other possible factors that can prevent the unit from draining or spinning out items properly, but we`ll cross that bridge when and if we get there.

Thank you for choosing FixYa, keep me posted on your situation.
