Currently its almost to buy a complete new gear box for only 1 worn gear shaft can it be because nowadays much brands deliver only complete gear boxes depending on which model and or brand . there is an gear-shaft worn in the box Milwaukee has also for most models complete gear boxes , Makita Panasonic Hitachi deliver for most models separate parts. I dont know how it is for Ryobi in your Country.

From your description the battery is probably faulty. If the batteries are still quite young it is possibly just one cell and while Ryobi don't refurbish batteries there are companies dotted around that do. If it is a nicad battery, Ryobi told me just a couple of days ago they no longer supply nicad replacements and expect everyone to upgrade to lithium, which means also buying a charger.

If the battery will take apart the remove the screws and split the casing. Leave it somewhere warm and dry for several days...

It sounds like the battery has gotten wet .To the best of my Knowledge there are no replacement parts (circuit board) for the batteries.

Your drill needs to be dismantled and the problem discovered. Know that these modern tools are not always repairable, but you can at least try. One reason for the last sentence is parts are not readily available, particularly if they are made in China. God bless your efforts.

i've seen people buy adapters to power their cordless drills with an outlet, but they had problems because the outlet didn't have enough raw power for the drills. That leads me to believe an 18v drill pulls some serious amps at full torque and rpm, but the exact numbers would depend on the battery discharge capability which varies on big and small batteries as well as they load if it isn't maxing out the drill.

First of all, the question was the charger wasn't charging the batteries. It's not the battery, it's the charger.

if no output from charger then charger has failed

they are for the charger to know the voltage in the battery to turn on or off charging. some just need 3 connections and the 4th is just a dead connection. or can be for location only so you don't put the wrong battery in. as they do other voltage batteries that look the same fitting.

you can but it will take longer to charge and prob will be at 16 volts give or take 1 volt.

take back to HD and exchange it for a new one.

There are replaceable parts for this unit. It may cost more to to Ryobi and back plus parts and labor.

You mean one battery for all if so battery pack faulty if it does not work for any tools
