As far as a schematic goes, I would guess that it is proprietary in nature and that not even dewalt "repairs" them. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the same model had several different versions of circuit boards representing different production runs

I'm assuming you have a DCD970 as DeWalt doesn't have a DC970 and the DW970 is an impact driver. The chuck on your drill is a new design that doesn't have a lock screw inside the chuck, they are put on very tight with lock-tite to hold them on. They are made to be taken off with a special chuck holder and vice jig that only service centers have. The allen wrench method used on older chucks won't work as the chuck will just loosen when you hit the allen wrench. I have on occasion removed one by doing the following: Turn the chuck fully open then secure it in a vice with the drill straight up. Holding the drill body and using the handle for leverage, turn the drill counterclockwise, as you are looking down on it, with steady, strong pressure. If the chuck breaks free it will spin off easily. If you are at all afraid you may break the handle you may have to take or send it to a service center to have it removed.

Most hammer drills on battery from brand Dewalt have its serial number in one of the yellow shell parts its a build code of the shells only under the battery holder also the year of build date stands there too it have the same function, I myself have long wondered too, because some Dewalt tools have a real serialnumber is it not fully clear why there is sometimes not and sometimes a full number to find, i have asked that also on Stanley Dewalt in Belgium. Using a pair of vice grips (with protection so as not to damage chuck) grip chuck and strike vice grips with a rubber mallet, undoing chuck.

I would bring it to an authorized service center and ask for warranty - there are not individual replacement parts, all the electronics come as one assembly, and unfortunately the brushless controllers are very expensive making the tool not worth repairing.

Replace battery. Ni-cad batteries have a life cycle, yours is the end of its life. Upgrade to lithium, battery if your tool will accept it. cost more delivers more in performance than the price difference. I once had nicad tools and disposed of all them and went to better battery..

Please include as much information about the tool. Find the label which states the actual model number. Some tools will state on the side of the tool that it is a DR175. However, there may be several variations of the DR175. On the label containing the serial number, there should be a product number which may read DR175-S which would allow someone with the variation to answer your question. Good luck!

some batteries are bad from factory, you should exchange it for another and try again. Make sure the battery voltage and type (ie. lithium, Nickel Cadmium,etc.) match the charger. If not, you can buy most replacement batteries for older models on the internet. If a second battery doesn't work - it's the charger . If this is a newer purchase, my newer Milwaukee flashes slow for the first two beats and then quickly while it reads the battery type and then shifts to the slow flashing charge light after it determines the type. this is because it is a smart-charger and can charge different types of batteries

Since the charger says that the battery is not faulty, but it does not charge the battery, then the charger is faulty. The same happened to my client. The dewalt chargers do have 1 year warranty.
