The guard on my makita chop saw keeps dropping down under the blade and will not return to the correct position unless you pull it up with you hand

Sounds like you have a broken spring, which you may not be able to see. Type "Makita chop saw" into the search engine of your computer, and a list of dealers should come up for you to call and ask your question of. God bless your efforts.

Makita 2012 planer, bought in 1990. a 12 inch board comes out thicker on one edge than the other by about 1/32 inch; maybe 1/16" is there a way to fix this? thanks

the cutter roll/blade is not parallel to the cutting deck so one end needs adjustment it could be from the cutters being blunt at one end and that will produce extra pressure at the other end or is not cutting as efficiently as the other end resulting in the problem

Makita BJV180 cordless jigsaw. The blade jumps out of the round guide at the back and goes crooked to the left or right. How do I stop the blade from escaping its guide?

It's possible that the blade is not seating or seated properly, the guide is bent or out of alignment, or an incorrect blade length is being used. See my request for information, and supply an image.

I have a Makita circular saw model 5007F. When plugged in the light that you follow lights up but when I pull the switch it will not do anything. I'm wondering if the switch is bad?

Check the brushes for the motor first, make sure they're in good shape, or replace them as they're fairly inexpensive, this is the most common issue, especially if you picked it up second hand, or have been using it for a while. Then, yes, I would try the switch. Unless to motor is shot, which you might be able to smell it and tell if it's burnt, it's most likely either the brushes, or the switch. Of course, I'm presuming you're using the thumb lock out before you pull the switch ;-) but since you didn't say... and yes, there are some people... :-)

Makita MLT100 table saw when stop button is pressed the motor switches off saw seems to be running really roughly and the the blade takes an age to stop spinning. Normally blade stops really quickly.

I can't find this saw at Makita; so, generally. Follow all safety precautions. :-) If the saw is running rough, the first thing I'd check is the brushes for the motor, especially if it has any age. These are fairly inexpensive and will solve a lot of woes. The next thing would be to check the thumb switch, if it has one. This is the switch that allows you to pull the trigger to run the saw, if it's just a button, then check the actual trigger switch to make sure it's working properly as it probably, not always, also engages the brushes to reverse the motor for a second, to slow it down so it stops faster. So, check the brushes on the motor, if they show any signs of wear, it's probably them. 2nd, check the switch. Please let me know and if I've helped, give me a vote up. Thanks.

I have a Makita Miter Saw LS1016 cannot get it to lift up, seems to be in lock position. How do I unlock? There is a little pull at pivot point, but doesn't pull out.

If you're talking about the lock that holds it in the lowered postion for moving or transporting the unit, it requires a slight downward pressure before the pin will move. Press down, and then pull the pin. If this isn't lock you're talking about, please provide more details; also, if this is the lock, and it still won't move, it could have gotten bent. If new, contact the manufacturer, if not new, then you might just have to apply more pressure to move it from the detent position.

Hi the battery terminals on my makita lxt circular saw are getting really hot and smells like it's burning any ideas what it could be ?

This might not be the correct answer but it could be that you are working the saw hard and drawing a lot of current from the battery. Make sure your blade is sharp and correct for what you are doing. (Lots of teeth cross cutting, fewer teeth for ripping) and adjust your feed rate. See if that makes a difference.

Makita 10" dual slide compound miter saw jerky while moving in and out. What,s wrong?

The pillow block bearing, guide bushings, or even the slide lock mechanism could be the culprit. If you post the model number I can help narrow it down for you.
