How to put a Kirby Vacuum belt back on

To put on a kirby belt all you need to do is put on the belt on the brushroll, put the brushroll into the housing making sure the marks on the end of the brushroll are the same. Take the spin dial in the front and "hook" the belt till the dial reads off. Put the head back on the machine and spin the dial to "on".

Trying to replace fan on Kirby g5 but the whole

The threads are left handed on the shaft. opposite than what everyone is used to. there are flat spots on the back of the motor armature where you can put a wrench to hold it from spinning.

Vacuum will not operate switch does not feel as if

Make sure that both safety switches are engaged (front and bag area). If it is still not working, than could be the cord or ON/OFF switch. How to replace the switch look at detail instructions on our website:

Our Kirby G5D won't start.

Make sure that both safety switches( in front and the bag are) are engaged. To see the video how to correctly attach the nozzle and bag go to:
http://www.goodvac.com

If it doesn't help, then most likely it is a switch. You can buy one on the same website.

Good Luck,
Rocky

How to change g5 belt

1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off)
2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now turn the belt lifter the other way and line the green arrows up again. This releases the tension on the belt
3)Turn it upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate.
4)Grab the brushroll and pull it out of the power head. Slide the new belt onto the center of the brushroll. It will hang loose...it doesn't have to stretch around anything yet. MAKE SURE THAT THE BRUSHROLL SPINS FREELY!! If it doesn't, you'll burn all new belts quickly due to the added strain on the belt.

You can get a replacement belt here:

Hi How do I attached the hose onto the upright G5

First, twist the belt lifter dial on the front of your kirby roller brush head counter clockwise to take the belt off the motor fan pulley, then undo the latch at the top of the head to release it from the vacuum body, then take your hose and mount it to the place where the head was hooked onto then lock it down with the latch at the top of the hose. That should get you going.

Does the kirby G5 have a reset button? If so,

No reset button. It sounds like you might have one of several possible problems. Some ideas I have that you could try yourself would be to check the lockout switches: there is one behind the head nozzle, maybe the nozzle is on crooked, if so, maybe not engaging the safety switch, the other lock-out is located where the bag screws on, unlock the bag and re lock it to ensure proper fit. Otherwise, take it to the shop because it could be the motor, the cord, the switch. Hope this helped ya. Let me know. Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

ALUMINUM ON KIRBY VACUUM

You can take it to the nearest Kirby dealer to get it buffed out for about $25. Most of us use buffing pads on a bench grinder. The polishing compound can be found at Lowes or Home depot in the tools area next to the buffing pads. Three compounds are usually used. First a cutter, then a cleaner, then a finish polishing compound. You can get by pretty good with just the last two. Make sure you clean the pads between the different compounds. You can do this by gently placing a flathead screwdriver in to the buffing pad to clean it. Wear safety glass and an old shirt.
