Cuisinart SPB-7 SmartPower Work Top Blender - Page 2 Questions & Answers
No power beyound the touch pannel
I managed to fix my Cuisinart SmartPower Duet
blender. I had the same problem, lights and buttons work, but no motor action. There are two thermal fuses, one tape attached to each stator
winding. Both of mine were blown.
In addition, when the fuses
blew, it must have spiked the triac. I had to replace mine. It's the
black 3-legged transistor looking device with a small metal heatsink
attached to it. This gizmo directly throttles the power to the motor
under control of the microprocessor. There are some guides on the
internet on how to test it.
Also, the clutch was very hard to
remove and needs to be removed to more easily replace the thermal
fuses. I clamped down the end of the motor shaft to a bench vise real
hard and then I used a 7/8-inch open-end wrench to wedge into the
clutch prongs which made it much easier to apply torque. Remember that
its screw threads are reversed from normal screws so that it does not
unscrew during operation. You have to turn it counter-clockwise to
unthread it.
It took about 1-1/2 hours and definitely needs to be done by someone who knows their way around electronics. Hope that helps!

Can't remove glass jug from plastic
The bottom of the plastic base has some grooves on it to grip it. Make sure you are turning the glass counterclockwise with respect to the base being below it.
How do I change to
You can probably use a Vise-grip pliers to clamp down on the brass insert and unscrew it. Not only is it on very hard, but it is also threaded reverse of a normal screw. This is so it does not come undone in normal operation.
You have to turn it counter-clockwise to unscrew it (a regular screw turns clockwise).
I had to clamp the motor shaft real tight with a bench vise to be able to remove the clutch. Hope this helps.

Can't get drive coupling off bosch unversal blender blade fixture
what you need to do is hold the blades with a towel to protect your hand, then, use a visegrips needle nose to grab the coupling (pushing the guard down) and twist it loose. It may be very tight, when I loosened mine, the plastic portion of the coupling pulled off leaving the metal "nut" tight to the shaft. Either way, remove the coupling/nut in the standard "lefty loosey" direction. Many thanks to the people at pleasanthillgrain.com for walking me through the process. Blessings to you.
Replacing Black Plastic Coupling
The part number is Cuisinart SPB7-20TXN and can be found on amazon.com. If this part is broken you will need to remove the brass coupling. Make sure you turn it clockwise not counter-clockwise as someone mentioned.
Hi, I need my KRUPS
Do the lights come on but the motor won't come on? I had the same issue with my Cuisinart blender.
The problem is very often a thermal fuse. It protects the motor by opening the circuit if there is too much current or if the motor is overheating. If indeed this is the issue with yours, the device is less than $2 each is sold at Radio Shack but finding someone to replace it for you might be hard. On my motor there were two thermal fuses taped onto each stator winding. It took about 1-1/2 hours of work to remove and rework because of the unusual location.
Another part that often blows is the triac that controls the motor. This is around $4 but again, it's finding someone who can replace it with the correct replacement.
Hope that helps,

Cusinert blender
you most likely have blown the thermal fuse. I just fixed my blender which had the same problem but only after I bought a another base:< If you are a handy person, it is a very simple fix. buy a 10 amp thermal fuse from "RadioShack" for $1.69. Sadly, it is cheaper to buy a new blender than have it fixed at a repair shop.
SPB7 Clutch Drive Coupling
you could replace it yourself by buying the part or bring it to a service centre. the website should list them for the region you want.
