The blade seems to be frozen - we can't get

Hi,

Although it may gouge the metal blade material, you need to try working the blade loose with a large pair of slip joint(water pump) pliers, after spraying WD-40 on the shaft and letting it soak for a couple of hours.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

It will not start no matter how well everything is

I had the same problem until I called Cuisinart. The handle of the bowl needs to face you. Have you tried that as well?

It won't start. The cup locks - the top, not so

I have the same problem, It is better after I scraped the top surface of the bowl with a supersharp knife held vertical to the top of the bowl lid, and removed the resulting burr from both sides of the bowl. I presume that it was too much friction between the mating parts of the bowl and the lids. It is better now and hopefully will be easier with use. The problem might have been insufficient cleaning of the mating parts after use and consequent gumming up.

Locked in blade

My old Cuisinart has this problem because the motor shaft and the corresponding socket on the cutter are worn. The shaft has jammed in the cutter. To un-jam it, stick a bar of wood behind one blade of the cutter (I use the wood handle of my dough whisk) and give it a light, sharp tap with a hammer. Check after every tap to see if it is loose, if not do it again. You want to tap against the back side of the cutter, not the cutting edge side. The socket on your cutter may be cracked, allowing it to open up and slip (and jam) under the stress of cutting. You'll probably need a new one. If the motor shaft is also worn, that can also be replaced. The new part is about $10. I got a few more months of life from my cutter by reinforcing the inner socket with a thin plastic tube from the barrel of a syringe.

I cannot remove the top from the base

I don't know what brand food processor this is. However, are you saying that the bowl will not rotate to release? It's normally just a matter of twisting the bowl (probably anti clockwise when viewed from the top) in order to release it.

My cuisinart 5.5 quart stand

There is a motor overload protection device internal of the motor that will prevent operation of the motor in the event the unit is overloaded. This device will reset itself after a cooldown period that should not last longer than 30 minutes. DLC-7 missing a piece?

The workbowl has a spring-loaded assembly inside. You can see it through the plastic. When the workbowl cover is in place and locked, it depresses the button on the base. If this is not happening, then you need to determine whether the workbowl or the cover is at fault. Once you figure that out, you need to replace the faulty one. I usually get my replacement parts at GourmetDepot.com.

My Cuisinart food processor has

There will be two switches that have to be 'closed' to operate the motor.

One switch is the on/off and the other is an internal switch operated by putting the bowl in position and locking it.

It sounds as if one or both of these switches is not operating correctly. This could be a result of leaving the machine in storage, perhaps in a damp environment?

Without dismantling the machine to inspect the switches the only option is to try operating both switches numerous times to clean the contacts.

DO THIS WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED. Operate the on/of switch numerous times - at least 50 to 100. Then place the bowl in position and move in and out of the locked position a similar number of times, to operate the hidden internal switch.

Now plug the machine back in and try it.

Safety-rod of bowl does not depress microswitch of Cuisinart processor

Cuisinart does not have the original pieces available, but you can order a replacement work bowl, lid, sleeve, etc that will work from the company. First do a motor test to make sure the motor is still working:

Cuisinart Food Processors – Motor Test

First, do a motor test by removing the work bowl completely and using a pen to press in the grey button on top of the base (with the food processor turned on of course), toward the back. If the processor spins, the motor is still good. At that point, I would inspect the work bowl pieces, lid, pusher assembly, etc for cracks/damage. If all appears well, insert ALL the pieces back into place and try again. If even one piece is out of place, the processor will not spin.

If it no longer spins, the motor has a problem.

Good luck!

I want to open the base of the processor, but can't find screws

Remove the 4 rectangular rubber pads on the bottom.

Later you will need some Rubber Adhesive Glue to place them back.

This will give you access to the 4 Phillips screws.

I presently own a Cuisinart Food Processor Model# DLC-7.

I hope this helps you.
