The winding stem of the caravelle has two positions when pulled outward from the case. Pulling it full out lets you set the time. And, by rotating the hands through successive twenty-four hour periods it resets the day of the week. Pulling the stem halfway out allows you to set the month, but only if you rotate the stem in a counterclockwise direction..

A quick look at ebay shows plenty of Bulova watches and only a few looking for a worthwhile price. I think if you have it repaired for sale it probably won't be worth the effort or expense. If the watch has sentimental or nostalgia value to you I think that is what would make it worth getting a good watchmaker to look at it.

You should only have to wind it anti-clockwise a few turns

do not pull the stem all the way just half way out. Turn clock wises the date should move. move to correct date. counter clock wises for the day. For the analog hold down the set mode button until it starts to blinking to change number with the start and stop. to change what is blinking press the mode button

There is a special gear type tool with prongs on it that rotate the back of the watch off (turn to left to take off, right to replace). If you don't have one, take the watch in to a jeweler's and they will replace the battery for little or nothing, usually.

mcdevito75 here, You will need a screwdriver to use in the slot for the battery cover or a coin, once you have the tool for the slot turn the cover just a bit and lift it off to get to the battery.

if the back has a notch on the top left of the cover (right underneath to what would be 10'oclock position), it is a 'Pop-up'. But if the watch has 6-8 notches on the back plate of the watch its a screw-off.
Its really hard to say what battery size it would take due to the fact that each watch has a different operating mechanism and its hard to determine that from the model number.

if its a screw off back it there are two indicators. one there will be notches 10 to 12 of them around the case back for a case back wrench or it will look like the edeg of a coin simulare to the rolex if not its a stander pop off.

Why not keep the watch and, have a new band put on! Great watch hang on to it!
