check the water temp and make sure the grind is not to fine. if both of these checkout ok then it may be a weak pump. you will have to find a replacement pump.

Not sure what the grinding noise would be (its hard to hear it ;-]) it might be the water pump if that model has one. The slow drip rate can also be from build up inside the machine. If you run vinegar and water through the machine a few times and then plain water a few more to make sure you don't end up with a vinegar espresso ;-]

the pump is not working and finding one is going to be a problem before you can fix this. Most parts such as this are over priced and repairs over exceed the value of a new machine.

Both tubes must be in the water. If you haven't used the machine for awhile, fill the water canister, turn the espresso maker on and also turn on the delivery switch (the top switch on the EC140). You'll hear the pump and in a second or two water will begin to exit the boiler nozzle. Immediately turn the delivery switch off. Wait for the "OK" light to come on. Press the "Steam" switch (the middle switch on the EC140, place an empty cup under the frother and turn the steam control knob on top in the counterclockwise direction. Steam will come from the frother. Be very careful to avoid contact with this steam.

before changing the filter, try cleaning it following the instructions in the manual(page 9, i'll attach it to my post). The Delonghi web site also offers the following solution: "The coffee may have been ground too coarsely or the grounds may not have been pressed with a tamper. Also check to make sure that the coffee is not old or stale." Parts are supposed to be available from the delonghi website(www.delonghi.com), but i couldn't find where they hid it. but there's an option on the site to go to local sevice centers, lets say you live in canada, then you pick the canadian website from the pull down menu on the top, the customer support tab, then service center on the left. Good luck

It sounds like the element may have failed in the boiler. I've had this, and fitted a replacement (myself), now all is well.

I get this about every 18 months to 2 years. The solution has been to purchase a replacement lid for the milk jug. I've just paid (yesterday, as it happens) £16.99 for one online. This will be my fourth, and we're all set to go for another 18 months-2 years. Btw, I've tried dismantling the lid to clean it etc, (many times), and it seems to make no difference. A replacement lid is what's needed. Bob.
