20 Most Recent DeLonghi EC701 Espresso Machine Questions & Answers

First, I'm not a delonghi technician. But I've worked on similar units.
* Table top brewers usually have water reservoirs that require monitoring and refilled when they get low (especially after brewing)
* It's possible the water level sensor is stuck (in the water reservoir) which tells the machine that it still has water and keeps heating the tank(s). Clean tank as described in your manual. You will still need servicing to check and replace fuse(s).
* There is usually two tanks/heaters in this type of table top machine (larger pro models use one large tank) The thermal limit fuse on one or both are probably blown. Call vendor for service.
* Did you change water source? Since this is a table top machine in which you fill the water tank. Try to use filtered (bottled ok) water. Do Not use Distilled or 100% pure water as this type of water will eat out the metals from your machine! Some places use a water softener as it tends to be better for the machine long term (years).
* Still got problems? Check with vendor or MFR for service or replacement. Most machines of this type do not have serviceable parts or adjustments.

first perform a chemical cleaning, place the chemical in the water tank and then this hot place to make coffee, so that the chemical clean pump and piping hot water, repeat this until you spend all the water,
if not repaired you may have problem with the water pump, solenoid or inlay is great need to remove the tubes and clean them out

Hmm that is very strange indeed, and DeLonghi has claimed they have no idea why they are different sizes? Have you asked to speak to a supervisor? From my notes and reference material there is only the one replacement part for that unit that you speak of... so possibly they just sent you the wrong one... I'd suggest you keep calling DeLonghi until you get someone willing to help you, anything online is going to be the same as what you received from them, and I'd be wary of purchasing something online as you may not be able to return it. At least DeLonghi will work with you to get a refund and I am sure a supervisor would help you locate the correct part.

Thanks
Tim

Most of the time these are push- fit.
If you have snapped the original, then study the new one to see if there are some broken bits to remove first from the fitting. Try and understand the fitting method before going further.
Usually it is a rod with 2 flats on the sides, that the knob will latch onto with a spring clip.

If the original knob is ok, or contains other parts not on your new one- there may be another part that is broken.

Hi,

First of all you need to switch OFF the machine and check for the Cause. You need to check :-

1. Water Supply to the machine might be interrupted. Make sure all supply taps are open.

2. Water Mains Failure. Check other water supply points/ faucet are working.

3. Damaged Water Feed Pipe - Check for Damaged /Kink pipe.

The process for Descaling :-

Unfortunately, in spite of the best-laid plans of mice and men, espresso machines often get clogged by scale, deposits of minerals from hard water. Scale can cause serious damage if untreated. If your espresso machine's water flow has decreased a lot, it's probably because of scale. Fortunately, there is an easy and inexpensive way to descale your espresso machine.

  1. Obtain some citric acid. You can either order this online or find it in the kosher foods section of the supermarket (usually marketed as "sour salt"). Acid solutions dissolve scale, which is made of calcium carbonate. There are special solutions marketed specifically for descaling, but citric acid works just as well and is much cheaper.
  2. Prepare the descaling solution by mixing citric acid with water (I use two tablespoons of acid and a quart of water).
  3. Put the descaling solution in the water tank, turn on the machine, and run water through the steam wand until the cup is filled, to expose the parts to the solution. Turn off the machine, and leave it for 20 minutes so that the solution has time to dissolve scale.
  4. After 20 minutes, run more water
  5. Run solution through the machine every 20 minutes, until the water tank is empty.
  6. Fill the water tank with plain water, and run water through the machine until output water no longer tastes sour. This is important, because excess citric acid does not make coffee taste good.
Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Could be scale build up. Do you have well water? You should run a descaler or white vinegar through the unit often to keep the boiler outlets clean.

Unless you are saying that the pump just doesn't run, ie, no noise, vibration, etc. Then, thanks for the warning that their pumps are bad.
